Spreading out the kindness here, the man is anonymous, in his helping the children in the distant regions, where there’s, not ample supplies provided for them, off of the Newspapers, translated…
For six months on end, the northern most library branch, the Shimen Library of Hsinbei City had received the packages of love from Kaohsiung every month for the past six months, for the students who studied in the libraries, and, as the backpacks were opened, the children found brand new books, and supplies, “it was, exactly like in the story, ‘Daddy Longlegs’, how a kind stranger helped the students”, the manager of the Shimen library branch, Hsiao helped collected the thank-you notes from the students, and hoped that the cards can get to “Daddy Longlegs” before the twenty-eighth, in time, for Thanksgiving.
The Shimen district, because there were no supply shops, a lot of children came to the libraries to do their homework assignments, they’d often gone to the counters to borrow the supplies. At the start of the year, the library branch had set up a “stationery station”, for the students to borrow the items for free, with an assortment of colored pencils, markers, protractors, erasers, pencil sharpeners, whiteouts, etc., etc., etc. so the children can go wild in their art, and in their writing. From before, the kids lose the items easily, so there’s, this huge expenditure of it.

Hsiao said, that as the story of lacking in supplies was publicized by the newscast, for six months on end, the library received a package from Kaohsiung, and as the staff members opened up the packages, they’d found brand new stationery supplies, the brand new books for reading inside. The library staff picked up a call from the donor once, the man asked what the kids needed the most, and said, that because Shimen is a distant region, he’d, hoped to do something to help these children out.
Hsiao told, that since the librarians told the kids, “These supplies are sent to us from a man who lives in Kaohsiung”, the children started, cherishing the supplies they were, given even more, and each and every month, they’d, looked forward to the arrival of the package, and constantly inquired, “I wonder what we’ll receive this month?”, and, as soon as the brand new illustrated books came in the mail, as soon as the books are shelved, they’d gotten, checked out by the kids.
In order to thank “Daddy Longlegs” Hsian stated, that the kids suggested writing a thank-you card to the man, they’d used the Chinese characters, the phonetic spellings, and wrote down, “Thanks uncle, for giving us an assortment of supplies to use”, “I hope uncle came come visit us at Shimen Library Branch” and such, to show their gratitude for this, anonymous donor.
And so, this unknown person who lives opposite from the library’s location saw the needs of the children, and started, giving to them, this is the sort of stories that warms us up, to see how people are, willing to take the time to care, to give to the community.
