Of how easily, we can, get kidnapped by the modern day advances in technologies, like the SmartPhones and FB, and some other social networking systems too! Translated…
I’d only, found the best referred Japanese cuisine on FB, the following minute, the ads for the assortments of Japanese restaurants locally started, popping up left and right; the clothes website I just shopped at also, started, showing the assortment of couture I was, just, looking at. It seemed, that the so-called, “free” search services, we actually, pay for it, in the realities.
“There are new books published by the publisher you recently bought from, please, take a look at this e-mail…”, I’d often received this sort of spam that’s not, entirely, spam, to the point, that it’s, mind wrecking.
“Another who bought this item also bought…”, slowly, enticing you, extending that temptation you simply couldn’t resist, based off of your, interest profiles, this is, an advance sort of a sales call.
Opening the MOD channels on T.V., the topmost item is the hot movies recently list, now, I can’t even become, a simple, couch potato, without someone else, telling me what to do. Is this the life I want, always, led out by the nose?
There’s, that joke, that when we’re in elementary school, we’d lost, our innocence, in middle school, we’d, lost our youths, in college, we’d, lost our scholastic performances, at work, we’d, lost our, personalities, going online, it will, cause the right to serve in the tennis court of our lives to get lost. Because, of all those, technologies that seemed to, “know you”. All you need, is to log onto that seemingly virtual reality world, and, all of your movements will get, analyzed, and manipulated, to get your preferences, tweaked by someone else.
Many years ago, my son knew that I’m an early riser, but he’d gotten used to coming home later in the evenings, in order to give me a birthday surprise, the night previous, he’d , already bought my favorite brand, with a card with the salaries of that month, and, after I went to bed, he’d, snuck in to my den, and put it there, so, on the day of my birthday, before I turned on the laptop, received the birthday greetings from the e-cards, I’d, received his, handwritten note. Back then, I’d believed, that this, was something that technologies couldn’t duplicate, nor replace, my son’s, heart, and so, I couldn’t wait, to share his actions with all I know from FB.
Later, every year on my birthday, the retrospect function on FB would, remind me of how I felt so moved on that day, and I got, immersed in the moment, not knowing, that I was, slowly, kidnapped, by technologies too.
The personalized methods of technologies, knowing what you preferred, gives us that sort of imagined happiness and that sense of bless, and, it’s fine that we get into it selectively, but, do NOT, get too reliant on it, it’s, too addictive.
And so, because the technologies are, so advanced, it’s like, it knows what we want, before we even, ask for it, and, we may get lured, into the comforts of having everything done for us, but, living like this, with every single move planned out for you, that’s, not living, that’s, a ROBOT!
