What this father did, to ensure, that his son will be able to escape, in case of a fire, due to the recent cases of fires that took the lives away, from the Front Page Sections, translated…

There had been an influx of tragedies on the news about fires, the Yingge mansion fire took three lives on the early morning of the 21st.

Perhaps, you may, have the right kinds of knowledge regarding fire safety, but, how about your neighbors? Most of the communities would have their annual fire department safety check that is, mandatory, but, some of these only checked the public areas, and, there are those residents, who’d, covered up the fire alarms in remodeling their homes. And, even IF you’d managed to pass the checks of the fire safety yesterday, are there, guarantees that your homes would pass the test a week, or even, a month from yesterday?

There are a total of fourteen floors in my building, and I live on the seventh, the fire trucks’ ladders are long enough to extend to my window, and, I’d, installed in a lift by my window, because, the firefighters might not come to my house to rescue me first if a fire broke out in my building; but, the nearly a hundred houses of my community, only my house has this, life-saving device installed.

windows like this will make it harder to escape if there’s a fire…photo from online

My son moved at the start of July, his new rental place is on the third floor, there are the steel window on the back, and no emergency escape, I’d suggested him talk to his landlord about it, he’d insisted that it wasn’t, necessary, reason being, that there’s, no chance that the front of his building can catch on fire, and the landlord would, never agree to it.

This kept, bothering me, later on, the case of the thirty-six fatalities of the Kyoto Animation Studio arson, made me buy the saw, headed up north.

I took the advantage of the time of my son’s being away at work, spent an hour, sawed the steel windows down, sent him a photo, “I’d already, sawed the windows open, you just, need to, pull apart the two pieces to make your escape. I’d made a barely visible opening, the thieves can’t possibly discover it, I don’t know if you are accepting to this, but, I can’t, accept the fact, that you live, in a dangerous building either, you will come to understand, why I’d been, so insistent on this as a father when you become one yourself, and, we’ll, tell the landlord after you stopped renting, and, if the asking price for repair is reasonable, then, we shall, pay it up”.

And so, this, is what this father did, to ensure his own son’s safety, because of the tragedies he’d seen on the news, and, his worries were, warranted, because, there are so many older buildings here, that lacked, the proper fire escapes, and, this was, a needed measure, to ensure his own son found an easy escape, if a fire were to, break out in his building.
