Abused by her stepmother, repeatedly, and this, was the end result of that! Another tragedy, from the Front Page Sections, translated…
A young girl from Hsinbei City, suffered trauma to her brains, and her intelligence regressed back to two years of age, she couldn’t take care of her own daily living, she’d become, like a vegetable now, her stepmother kept stating, that she got that way because she’d tripped and fallen down; after the Hsinbei District Court examined the matter, they’d believed, that the stepmother’s claims didn’t match to injuries of the child, and she’d, hidden the facts, and, dodged the responsibilities, plus, with the other family members testimonies, yesterday, the stepmother was given a six year six month sentence.
Based off of understanding, after the child’s parents were divorced, she was left in the care of her father, and, after he remarried, her stepmother started, taking care of her, there was another half-brother which her father had with her stepmother, but, she was the only one who’d been, abused. After the incident, her father and stepmother divorced, and the son from their marriage was left in the woman’s custody.
The verdict pointed out, that two years ago in February, the young girl had been hospitalized for a head trauma, back then, the hospital found her covered in injuries old and new, and she’d had subdural hematoma, and hemorrhage of her brain, that she was suspected of being abused. But the domestic violence prevention center wasn’t sure, only followed up on the case, not placed her in protective custody, three months later, the girl was taken to the hospital to get her injuries treated again, and this second time, she’d, suffered, even more severe conditions.
The child ran a high fever, and, she was diagnosed with acute subdural hematoma, not enough oxygen to her brain, and pneumonia, and other symptoms too. Although after treatment her life was, spared, but she’d suffered brain damage, and her intelligence regressed back to two years of age, couldn’t stand on her own, feed herself, and couldn’t control her bodily functions either, she could no longer live on her own, she’s, bedridden long term, not much different, than someone in a vegetative state.
The stepmother denied the allegations of abuse, claimed she’d never beaten her, that the injuries on her were from her own tripping and falling, but, the hospital found, that the subdural hematomas in her brain were covering many varied areas, and there was NO clear fractures, or soft tissues being swollen, and believed that her injuries were, caused by external forces.
The courts investigated, that the child’s head injuries weren’t caused by the fall, and there must be something that’s, happened to her, other than calling her father to the stand, the courts also, called the other family members to testify, and everybody testified, that the stepmother had, abused her, and had, burned the child with the cigarette butts too, that the child was, very scared of her.
And so, this stepmother had, abused her own stepdaughter, because she wasn’t, her blood, and that’s, just awful, and she only received SIX years, for making this young girl into a VEGETABLE too! How’s that justice, huh??? It isn’t!
