So, STOP playing us, voters, for fools! Commentaries from the Front Page Sections, translated…
Recently, the thesis written by three Italian scholars from the American Economics Journal used the former prime minister of Italy as the subject. The former PM of Italy worked hard, to set up the brand that Italy was, leading the voters to a populist government, it’d, made him get elected again. As the article was published, it’d, incited the discussions abroad: are the voters really, that, gullible?
The way Taiwan worked, is quite different compared to Italy, but, there are, instances of what was occurring in Italy: the worshiping of the ordinary, the populist governments, buying up votes for the policies, fighting for the right of way, etc., etc., etc. But, what’s more unique about Taiwan is, that the behaviors of the incumbent worsens as election time rolls around. This time, the Han trend started, causing the “fans of Han” to pop up everywhere, and this has a lot to do with how the media played the matter, and, it’d, added to the complexities of the voting.
In actuality, whether it be the fight for the presidential candidate of the party not in power, or how President Tsai played the card of diplomacy passing through U.S. soil, to how Su used the power of the central government to threaten the local media, to how Mayor Ke talked trash of the DDP, these are, all made of, populist beliefs. At election time, there’s, an assortment of bad behaviors happening.
As for how far can these politician fool the constituents? Actually, we can use an old idiom, “the voters always see!”, after Berlusconi had worked his way to the top in Italian politics, he still got dumped by the voters. Which shows, you may be able to fool someone for the time being, or even, the masses, for the time being, but you can’t, fool everybody forever. Just like how the DPP’s breaking the democratic rule, using it to turn the people in Taiwan against China, it’d, disgusted us, the voters more each, and every day.
So, no matter what sort of government, populist or whatever, people are seeing, WHAT, is happening all around!
And so, although, this is only, one person’s opinions, but I’m sure, that this individual hit the nail right where it’s supposed to get hit, and s/he is right, because the voters aren’t fools, just look at this last election, because the DDP had been awful, doing everything that’s bad for the country, the voters voted for the opposite party, killing off the seats of office of greens in the counties and cities here, and this, is how we, the voters, can KICK the asses of those in power, with our votes!!!
