Life, the Obstacle Course

A Kid Named Marty

There was a kid named Marty, who’d, acted up in class since, his preschool/kindergarten years, started, disrupting the class, trying, to get his teachers’, undivided attention.

His teacher suggested his mother put him on Ritalin!

This kid named Marty, had a hell of a time, trying, to adapt to his life in school, nobody understood what he’d needed, that he wasn’t, the same sort of a learner than the majority population of his classmates.

But, Marty’s mother, she’d, never stopped believing in him, and when the school principals called her in to their offices, and told her to put her son in special ed, she’d, fought for his right, to be educated in the regular classrooms, for she didn’t want to, slap that label onto her own son, like the rest of the world wants to, as that, would be, a HELL of a lot, easier, than coming up with a way that works, to teach him the lessons he needed in school.

and here’s, what a kid labeled as “ADD” might act…“come back down to earth, Space Cadet”!!!  Photo found online

This kid named Marty, got passed around, from educator to educator, transferred in and out of the schools in his local area, and, his mom even, quit her day job, and just, started, volunteering, as a classroom mother, just to, make her son feel more secure.

And, this kid named Marty felt more secure, with his mother there close by, and, he’d started, catching up to the rest of his classmates academically.  Marty went through his K to 12, with his mother, close by his side.

Finally, this kid named Marty, stood on the podium, in his cap and gown, he’d, made it through, his high school years now, as his mother, looked back through the years, and the choices she’d made, things, she had to, give up for her son’s sake (a well paying job???), she’d, realized, that she’d, done right by him!
