The Principal’s Office Turned into a Library, the Students Learned to Love to Read

Reading, is the key to learning, a lot of schools had get the students motivated to read by putting the library at the center of the schools, and making the principal’s office into a reading room; and there are teachers who’d set up the classroom newspapers, reading along with the students in the mornings, to get the students to read for the class, to get them to submit their own writings, publish their own opinions.

The Department of Education had found the schools that were excellent in their commitments to make the students read more in the elementary and middle school levels, encouraging the schools to start helping the students set up their roots to learn to love to read, this is the tenth year the program’s been implemented.  There are, forty schools that were, nominated as the rock foundation for instilling the love of reading to students.

The school that was nominated this year, the Dingpu Elementary School in Hsinbei city, remodeled the school libraries for the second time in four years, and moved the principal’s office, making the principal’s office into a reading room of the library, and the location of this space is at the center of the school, it’d become a place the students pass by daily, which increased the number of times the students entered into the library.

The Maguan Middle School who also received the same awards had combined reading with agricultural work, planned out the three stages of “Reading & Walking Along”, the seventh graders read the agricultural magazines, establishing the knowledge base; in the eighth grade, the students then go to the nearby farms, and, in the dictations, training them in taking down the main points of the lectures; in ninth grades, the students would be collecting the data on the produces, and establish their analytical skills through reading, to construct the local agricultural facets, and also, help with the local peanut industries as well.

The individual reading advocate winner, the elementary instructor, Yu-Hong Chang, he’d set up the various reading programs at school, leading the students in reading when they arrived in school, training the young storytellers, and found the writers to host seminars, and set up the experimental newspaper reading courses, to encourage the students to show care and concerns for the current events, or having them submit their writings, to learn to create their own writings.

And so, these, are, the innovative ways, the schools’ principals, the teachers came up with, to get their students into reading more, and, it’d, worked, but, the habits of reading need to start back in childhood, by reading along with your own young, so they get into the habits of reading the books when they are able to on their own.
