The Suicide of a School Principal…the Mess in Primary Education, Still Continues…

What we can learn, from this man’s SUICIDE!  From the Front Page Sections, translated…

On April 28th, 2004, the very first middle school principal, Lai, of Li-Xing Middle School in Taichung committed suicide by hanging, the news shocked the society, back then, his reason for suicide was suspected of having been pressured by the local representative to buy the lunch programs from a certain provider, that Principal Lai could no longer take the pressures, and killed himself.  And, although the case was closed, because of there’s no evidence of the city councilmen’s involvement, it’d, left this, unanswered question, but, principal Lai had, made a most painful accusation to the mess in education, with his own life.

Fifteen years went by, and, there’s, still a huge mess in education right now.  The principal’s quietly living the world, because he felt helpless in trying to change the messiness of education, as his wife, I kept asking myself, WHY, did a man who’s, so enthusiastic about education do such a thing?  I can’t understand it!  I can only, see how his hope was, coming to being, from the articles, the writings he’d, left behind, to MAKE the government tackle the problems we’re faced with in education right now, so the society will, take the problems in the realm of education, more seriously too.

There’s no other key to education, only love and setting an example.  This, was the motto of Principal Lai, he’d used the fitting measures, the whole-person perspective, to teach his students to be morally responsible citizens.  Thinking back on the principal’s worries about education, I offer some advice, I’d, used my husband’s draft as a blueprint, listed five areas of analysis for the education of students in this country.

First, the country isn’t doing enough on cultural education, it’d not put enough funding in the programs, lacked the foresight, causing the schools not have what they’d needed in the hardware and the software, to do their jobs right.

Secondly, there’s, that difficulty, in the training of instructors, causing those who wanted to teach to decline in numbers, and even if the individuals do become, teachers, they still, couldn’t, give all their concerns to their students.

Third, the negative news on the media, causing the tensions of students and teacher to get heightened, it’d, caused the middle schools which are prototypes of the society to be, greatly, impacted.

Fourth, we couldn’t do away with the systems of testing, we couldn’t, make the lesson plans fit to the needs of the students, in order to help the students get rid of the stresses on the academical front, the officials needed to use everything they have, to set up a ton of school functions, to help the students out, but, their hard work aren’t, appreciated by the students, OR other school teachers.

Fifth, how to implement the individualized education plans to the special needs, to help improve the lacking of special needs education here, it’s still, what we need to work on.

Children are our future, we’d needed to, steer them onto the right paths of life when they were younger, that way, they’re, less likely to stray even as they grow older.  And, it takes a ton of compassion, love, and patience, to help the child grow up to be a full and complete human being.  Education is what helps a country become great, it’s also, absolutely, vital, if we want our country to get stronger, especially, we must, start the foundations of education in the primary years, that way, we will be able to, train and produce out an assortment of able-bodied individuals, who can, give back to the community when they’re older.

How does a grain that fell into the ground grow up?  I hope, that the philosophies of Principal Lai’s education will turn into “love” and “a positive force”, to call out to the society, to make sure that education is, rooted, downward, so the wheats will grow up fuller, and better.

And so, this, is what we can learn, from this principal’s suicide, that education today, isn’t at all, focused enough on education, there’s, too much politics, and, whenever politics is involved, then, nothing good can come of it, and hopefully, this principal’s suicide can serve as a lesson, for all of you, educators out there!
