Life, the Obstacle Course

Children of Taiwan, a Poem

The children AS our futures, translated…

Children of Taiwan

Sing by the Danshui River

The Wind from the Straits Swayed Their Clothes

The Cities It’d Built for Them, Growing Strong

The Bluer than Blue Skies, Looking Down on Their Tiny Foot Tracks

A Beautiful World Awaits for Them to Embark

The Children of Taiwan

Sang by the Droshui Creek

The Tall Central Mountain Range Hearing Their Bright Songs, Smiling on

As Their Voices Broke Through the Skies, the Wind Blew Across the Farmhouses, the Fields

All Those Stars, They’d, Secretly, Taken Notes of the Wishes They All Had Before They Fell Asleep

As the Children Woke, They Were, Greeted by the Warm Sunshine

The Children of Taiwan

Sang on the Kaoping Creek

The Bright-Colored Plains were Turned to Gold by the Grains of Rice Swaying in the Wind

Those Darkened Complexions Gave off a Glow Underneath Those Coconut Trees

The Oceans Opened Its Arms Wide, Embraced Them into Its Widened Chest

Riding on the Waves, Breaking Down the Winds, They’d, Written Down All of, Taiwan’s Dreams

This simply showed, how children ARE, all our futures, and, not just for children here in Taiwan, but everywhere else in the world too.
