The oncology surgeon from Wanfang Hospital went to the providers, and charged a very low price for the tomotherapy, and yet, he’d, charged his patients using the cost of the much higher costing tool, the D.A. sent out four squads to search the Wanfang Hospital, as well as the biotech agency, called Wu and six others to the D.A.’s office, and, late in the evening, they’d, sent ALL seven individuals to the Taipei D.A.’s Office to reinquire again.
The northern office of the Investigative Bureau received a tip, that Wu had scammed three cancer patients for the overcharge of their surgery, and, he’d known that the Department of Heath Insurances wouldn’t accept the filing for the fees of the voluntary surgeries, he’d knowingly, forged the documents, to scam the health insurance agencies; as for whether or not the providers had gone along with Wu’s scams? The Investigative Bureau other than starting up the investigations, they’d called the providers in as witnesses.

Wu is a highly respected oncologist, had gone on the T.V. interviews multiple times, and, the discussions he was invited to primary involved the treatment of cancer, he was seen as an authority in the field, and as his office and home were searched on suspicion of fraud, it’d, shocked everyone in the medical field.
Based off of understanding, Dr. Wu in 2012, had continued advised three of his cancer patients to get the volumetric-modulated arc therapy which wasn’t paid for by the national health insurances, costing $250,000N.T.s, he’d told his patients, that the procedure, was costly, but, it’s more effective in treating the spreading of the cancer cells compared to the surgical methods which the national health insurances had approved and copaid for, the cancer patients, in order to save their own lives, and trusted Wu’s authorities, agreed to pay the full price themselves for the surgical methods, but, they were, conned; as for the differences of $600,000N.T., if it was all taken by Wu, or, had Wu shared it with the providers of the equipment, that became, the focus of the investigations.
Based off of understanding, of the three cancer patients he’d scammed, two had passed away, only one is still, currently living, and, nobody knows if the rate of survival has to do with the kind of surgical methods that Wu had used.
Based off of undersetanding, the two kind of equipment Wu advocated to his patients, were provided to him by the biggest bio-technology company here in Taiwan, and the company is very well-known in the field, the companied worked with nearly twenty oncology centers here in Taiwan, and monopolized the market here.
In 1989, the Wanfang Hospital wanted to set up an oncology treatment center, but lacked the funding, and, the company put up the money needed, and grouped together a team of medical experts, and the surgeons, the doctors and the nurses too, were all on the payroll of the biotech company, the hospital and the biotech company were, closely, related.
And so, this, is how this thing got so mingled together, because the doctor found it easier, to scam his patients, after all, they’re all, terminal cancer patients, and, desperate to prolong their lives, which made them all easy targets, and, the doctor used that against them, and scammed them, and he is, an AWFUL example of what doctors should be, because doctors should have the BEST interests of his patients in mind (or am I just, way too naïve here???), and didn’t ALL doctors take that Hippocratic (more like HYPOCRITIC!!!) oath with the first rule being: do NO harm???
