The Robber Got Away with $700N.T.s, Because the Hiking Trails is Connected to All Around, the Police Couldn’t Zoom in on the Robber’s Route of Escape, They’d Suspected that it was Someone Local, Who Knew the Landscapes Well, the Police is Already Reviewing the Surveillance, and Chasing the Possible Leads
A college-aged couple two evenings ago, went to the famous Elephant Mountains Trail to see the night scenes, they were robbed by a middle-aged man, with a fruit knife, they’d lost $700N.T.s, because the hiking trails connected to the various parts of the city, the police suspected that the robber was someone who knew the area well, the police is now, reviewing the surveillance footages, and, trying to track down the robber right now.
The Elephant Mountain Trail is a famous hiking trail in Taipei, it’s a great place to see the city in the night, as well as the 101 too, every year on New Year’s Eve, the trail had, attracted a lot of the tourists, photographers, who’d, marked their spots there beforehand, it’s now become, a well-known tourist attraction hiking trail internationally.
The police investigated, that at around ten in the evening two evenings ago, a man, Hwa (age 21), and his girlfriend Chen (age 20), were looking at the lights from Elephant Mountain, as they hiked down to ten meters from the platform to watch the fireworks from, a middle-aged man with a fruit knife blocked their passage, he’d grabbed Hwa with his left hand, threatened him, “turn over all your money”.
The couple told him they didn’t have any money, the man flashed the knife, threatened to stab them if they don’t hand over the money, and, Hwa and Chen both, turn over the amount of money they had, Hwa with $500 N.T.s, and Chen, with $300N.T.s, and, the robber started thumbing through for the change inside their backpacks, and the victims begged him to leave the pocket change for their bus rides, and that was when the robber threw a hundred dollars back at them, then, demanded that they walk forward, and not turned back to look at him, he’d, made his escape.
Based off of understanding, the couple were college classmates, as the robber robbed them, Chen was so scared she was, crying, as the police received the reports and came, they were taken to the Xinyi Police Substation to get their statement; based off of the descriptions of the victims, the suspect was between fifty to sixty years of age, slightly heavy set, was wearing a dark windcoat, pants, had the mask and the turtleneck from his coat covering up his features.
The police analyzed, there were members of the public who’d gone to work out or to go see the city in the nighttime on the trails, there were, rarely, any major crimes that happened there, but, the routes to get up and down the trails was quite complex, it would be easy, for the robbers to get away, the police suspected that the robbery was committed by someone who knew the area well, that it may be a drug dealer, robber, or someone who’s robbed repeatedly, or someone who was, recently released from prison, and in need of some quick spending cash.
Because there was normally a close to zero crime rate lcally, the police paid high attention to this robbery case, they’d set up the task squads, and are, reviewing the surveillance footages of the nearby parks, as well as the cameras at the various entraces leading up to the mountain hiking pass.
There were, a some member of the local community who were, exercising close by when the robbery happened, the posts online stated, that there was, normally, a NO crime rate in the hiking trails, but reminded on how the members of the public shouldn’t travel alone down the dark alleys at night, many members of the online community had, voiced their concerns, fearing, that it would be unsafe, to hike up the trail at night now, and some felt that the robber was too outrageous, as the hiking trail is, populous, hoping the police can, solve this case soon.
And so, this ISOLATED incident, had caused great concerns, because this hiking trail was originally, safe, until THIS robbery happened, and, the robber knew, that the hiking trails are very complex, and he must’ve known the areas well, that was how he was, able to, get away, with the money he’d robbed from the couple, without the police catching up to him, Y-E-T……
