The Female Migrant Worker Disposing of Her Newborn, as She Was Arrested, She’d Told the Authorities, “I’m Worried I Might Get Fired”

The ACTIONS, of an IRRESPONSIBLE woman here!  From the Front Page Sections, translated

After She Gave Birth, She Took Her Infant Out to Throw Away, Then, Returned Back to the Factory for Her Graveyard Shift, the Department of Immigrations: there’s No Law on Extradition of Infants Born to Migrant Workers, These “Unregistered Infants” are now, a Huge Problem in the Society Here.

A Newborn Infant Girl Was Found, Dumped Inside a Cardboard Box by the Side of the Road, the Police Tracked the Label on the Box, Twelve Hours Later, They Found the Mother, She was a Twenty-Year-Old Vietnamese Migrant Worker, Nguyen.  Nguyen Claimed that She Was Afraid She May Get Fired for Getting Pregnant and Getting Extradited, She’d Not Told Anybody of Her Pregnancy, and She’d Worried She Might Not be able to Keep and Feed Her Infant Daughter, That Was Why She’d, Thrown Her Away.

The Hsinbei police after interrogations, charged Nguyen with abandonment, sent her to the district attorney’s office and restricted her from escaping out of the country, and, turned her over to the agency that’s gotten her to work here.  If she was sentenced, she will be serving her term full then, be extradited back.  The infant is currently in the hospital, under observations.

The Department of Immigrations said, there isn’t a law of forced extradition for the migrant workers once they were pregnant, and, the Care Home that took in all the infants abandoned by the migrant workers told, that this is an illegal contract, signed by the agencies and the Department of Immigrations, that’s caused the workers to worry, that if they get pregnant, they will, get sent back to their home countries; in order to prevent tragedies like this, the government should round up the resources, and set up a way of working it out with the privately owned agencies.

The Hsinbei Social Services Department told, that there’s little information on these infants without legal residential statuses, and it’d, become this problem to the society, take for Hsinbei for example, there are now currently, THREE unregistered infants that are currently being cared for by the Social Services now.

At around one in the midnight hours yesterday, a member of the online community posted on PTT, that his friend, Chen’s father went out to catch the Pokémon, and found a box by the bushes, and he’d, opened it up, saw an infant, wrapped in a green towel, and black hoodie, barely breathing inside the cardboard box, with the umbilical cord still attached, he’d immediately notified the police.

The officers and paramedics rushed to the site, the temperature was at sixteen, seventeen degrees Celsius, very low, but the infant’s vitals were, stable, she was okay after they’d taken her to the hospital.  The police tracked the box, and found that the box was shipped to a certain electric parts company in Zhonghe, and yesterday, they caught up with the Vietnamese woman, Nguyen who’d given birth out of wedlock.

Nguyen came here last March, she claimed that the father of her daughter was also a Vietnamese migrant worker, he’d gone back to Vietnam at the start of the year already.  She said, in the middle of the year last year she found she was pregnant, worried that the company will stop hiring her and extradite her back home, she couldn’t keep making money anymore, she’d not dared tell the agency or the company she’d worked in about her pregnancy, two evenings ago at around six she gave birth in her dorm, she’d severed off the umbilical cord with a fruit knife, then, wrapped her own infant up in a shirt, and a towel, rode out on the electric bicycle, abandoned her own daughter, then, returned back to the factory to work her graveyard shift.

The manager of the Children & Teen’s Welfare Department of the Social Services, Liu stated, that there were the infants abandoned for six months and still couldn’t find the parents, and, they’d, put the child into the system, spoke perfect Chinese and Taiwanese.  After the child was placed in foster care, four years later, the police found his birthmother, who was an illegal escaped worker from Indonesia, and she needed to be extradited in a month’s time.

But this child can’t speak a word of Indonesian, the local government found the Indonesian spouses who’d married here, to help him get hone up on his language skills, to act as translators for him, and accompanied him to meet with his birthmother, then, they’d, released the boy to his mother to be taken back to Indonesia wither.  The Social Service Department calls out to the migrant workers, that if they are in trouble, they should, call for help from the outside.

And so, this is, a case, with a better ending, because at least, this abandoned boy was sent back with his own mother, to Indonesia to live, but, there are, many workers who’d come here, and realized, that they couldn’t, handle the workload, and, they’d, escaped, and became “unlisted” and these “unregistered citizens” are having children, which makes more trouble for the country, because, it’s still, the taxpayers who will, end up, paying for these children.
