Help Our Children Find Their Paths in the Future

In the identity vs. role confusion stage of their development, teens, from the Front Page Sections, translated…

Now that the famous high school students knew the prototype of how to protest against the examinations, they’d, stopped, believing in the myths about testtaking.  This, is the knowledge of the bright young men and women, but, for those who are, sinking in the school systems, they’re, struggling in the twelve-years of mandatory education.

In the counseling activities of middle school students, there is a course on career planning, but, the program wasn’t made for those who couldn’t make the grades, to teach them to think of what their next steps in life should be, and, for all these students, they’d, chosen their next steps, without fully understanding what it may bring to their lives, which caused them to still be in the process of discovering their areas of interests at the age of seventeen, when they should’ve begun to discover their interests back at fifteen.  At this time, the development of the brain is in the process of understanding the motive of behaviors, and impulse control, and, if these teens are without adult supervision, whom they trusted and/or relied on, or that they’d, joined up with gangs, ran with the wrong crowds, their lives may be impacted to beyond repair.

There are more cases in my treatment sessions, and, most of these patients chose sports because they couldn’t do well academically, and the modern day society is encouraging career options like sports, singing, and baking too, like the broadcasters online or the fitness coaches, these are, new kinds of jobs that were, started, because of these trends.

The students mostly considered their interests, but, there are two kinds of interests: one, used as the basis for professional development of skills or knowledge, this is a career-related interest;a nd, to improve the quality of life, which would be considered a hobby, and, they must be able to differentiate.  And, some students would still select sports, perhaps, they lacked the understanding of how it’s a leisure sort of interests or that it may be a career interest for them, it’s not that easy, being a professional sports player at all, and so, the students would need extra guidance, when planning out their career paths for the future, to know, which way they are to develop for their futures.  Most importantly, how to, reach their goals, which includes, what kind of a life one wants to live.

All of these cognitive abilities, in those students who are, underdeveloped, aren’t formed, and the school counselors are on the front line of this, if they couldn’t satisfactorily help the students find the answers that they were seeking, the students shouldn’t seek out counsel from teachers at random, ask Google, or find someone who’s famous with this area of experiences online, but to find a professional counselor, or a adolescent psychiatrist, especially for those who aren’t doing that well at all in the academics, they are, most desperately in need, of the “expert advice”!

And so, this, is problematic, because in your middle school or high school years, you are, testing the waters, trying on the various activities, to find out which one you want to take up as a possible profession for your future, and, some students knew what they want to do right off the bat, while others are, wondering lost, and this is when guidance is, absolutely necessary for these students who are unsure of their futures, and, the problem with that is, there’s not enough trained professionals from the schools, offering these students the advice they are in need of to succeed in their separate lives.
