The case of the man from Hong Kong who’d traveled with his girlfriend who was also from Hong Kong who’d murdered her last year, wasn’t placed in the Taiwanese police custody. The families of the victim held a press conference and called out, the councilmen of the Hong Kong Legislature asked for the amending of the laws, and, that the local police should review on a case-by-case.
Chen from Hong Kong during Valentine’s Day last year had, murdered his girlfriend who accompanied him traveling to Taiwan, Pan, the victim was placed into a suitcase, and disposed of in the bushes, and the victim was already pregnant when she’d been murdered. As Chen returned back to Hong Kong, he’d stolen Pan’s identity and used her credit cards, and was caught by the police in Hong Kong, and charged with theft and identity theft.
The families of the victim as well as the Taiwanese police wanted the Hong Kong government could extradite Chen to Taiwan where he will be tried, but there weren’t any extradition laws between Taiwan and Hong Kong, so, there’s no deal.
The mother of the victim yesterday on a press conference cried, that the “only way I can help my daughter is to get justice for her death, to allow her to rest in peace, I hope the special district government will allow for justice to be served.”
And, there are concerns of politics in this matter, because Hong Kong is a district of China, and although this man murdered his girlfriend here, there’s that debate of whose rules the felon should abide by, should he be tried on the terms of murder based off of the laws here, because this is where he’d murdered his own girlfriend, or should he be tried by the laws of where he was from, because he’s a citizen?
