The rapist, Sun in order to evade arrest, nine years ago, he’d murdered the doctoral student, Chang, set his body on fire, and assumed Chang’s identity, to “come back to life again”, the D.A. and police originally looked at Chang’s death as a suicide, until the D.A. examined the body and found that the doctoral student’s hands were tied behind his back, and that the body was burned up, but the hands were, untouched, and as they took the deceased’s fingerprints, they’d found that it’d not matched up to the one who’d signed for the suicide note, and that, was when the case reopened for investigation.
The first trial believed, that Sun in order to escape arrest and serving the time, planned out the murder, that there’s, no chance that he will, ever be reformed, he was sentenced, for death, and on the retrial of the third appeal, the judge gave him life in prison, and the Highest Court tossed back the rulings, and, on the fourth appeal, the judge believed, that on the third appeal, Sun admitted to murder, and showed that he was remorseful for his own wrongdoing, and, actively told of his plans to pay back the family who’d lost a son, maintained the life sentence ruling, the case can be appealed, and the families couldn’t accept this, said that there’s no empathy from the justice systems.
Sun was sentenced to eight and a half years on raping adolescent girls, and because he’d not wanted to serve the time, he’d found information online on “how to get an active arrest warrant nullified”, and “setting oneself on fire”, he’d planned to change his identity, to start a “new life” again.
In November of 2010, Sun fished for the doctoral student, Chang, and as Chang arrived at the motel to the room, he was strangled to unconscious by Sun, and afterwards, he’d, driven Chang to the mountains in Kaohsiung, set his body ablazed, then left a fake suicide note, then, he’d falsified himself as Chang, and applied for another nation identification card.
The day following the murder, Sun went to the DMV, used his own photo, Chang’s personal information, applied for a lost driver’s license of “Ji-Tien Chang”, then, took the new license to the land offices, to get a brand new national identification card, and because the two men were over thirty kilograms apart, it’d caused doubts in the clerk’s mind, but, Sun used the excuse of overeating and gaining weight, successfully got his false identity as Chang.
The officers examined the scenes, believed it to be suicide at first, until the D.A. Chen, called the coroners, and found that the victim’s hands were tied behind his back, and he’d died outside of the car, and suspected it wasn’t, suicide, and, compared to the prints that were left from the torched up car, and found, that it’s not the same person who’d, left the suicide note, and managed to identify the real identity of the deceased as Chang, and busted Sun’s plans to becoming him.
And so, this still just showed, that you WILL get caught, if you do something awful as murdering someone, then assuming her/his identity, because, there’s, NO escaping karma, it will all, come back to you eventually, and this man still didn’t get the punishments he deserved, because he’d murdered a man, because he didn’t want to get caught, and yet, the court systems saw how he’d shown “remorse” and instead of sentencing him to death, they gave him a life sentence.
