Problems on the welfare of children, that’s nowhere NEAR going to get solved yet, from the Front Page Sections, translated…
The news of a seventeen-year-old young mother and her friend’s abusing her young son to death, I was out with my children having our meals, my youngest son was having an ice cream cone, and being too naïve, he’d not known, that another young girl who was born in another family, is already in an alternative world now. The same children, but they surely had, different fates.
The news kept playing the headlines of unfitting mother, and what sort of an environment had, made her to turn out to be, so coldblooded toward her own young? What sort of a value was it, that’s, caused her, to abuse and murder her own young child with an “outsider”? There’s the serious problem of the decline in birthrate here, children should be, cherished, how can you give birth to a child then abuse her/him to death?
How many young parents are married because of their children, but failed to take the responsibilities, of raising their own young, so many young lives that were, lost, that never had, the opportunities of, growing up. In the northern European countries, the children are viewed as the countries’ assets, and when the birthparents are, unable to provide the needed care, the government would shoulder up the responsibilities, of raising these young. Those who had priors in domestic violence, or child abuse, would, lost their reputations altogether, and would have a hard time, finding a job, and their families and friends, won’t accept them either, they believed, that people who abuse or neglect helpless children, must have a personality defect, that they just, couldn’t, offer them any work opportunities.
Perhaps, some people believed, that if Taiwan followed northern Europe’s leads, the government will, end up, wiping the asses of those irresponsible parents, adding to the burdens of the taxpayers. But, from an alternative angle, in a large machine like a country is, willing to assist in these cases where children were, born to the wrong families, then, wouldn’t these young have a chance to make it too?
I suggest that the OBGYNs while delivering children from unwed mothers, they’d needed to set up a file on the cases, and follow up with the children and the birthmothers for at least three years; and the land offices where the children are registered, should phone the families regularly to check, and when the children weren’t taken into get their innoculations on time, have the police step in. Set up a well-functional system where the local areas can keep an eye, that if there are underage parents with children, then, the offices should pay these families visits regularly.
Due to an influx of the cases of child abuse, this is what the writer came up with, that the government should step in, to pay more attention to the children from these high-risk families, but, the writer failed to note, how when these young parents have their children, they’re the ones, responsible for their own children’s lives as well as their behaviors, that it shouldn’t be left, all up to the government, or anybody else who’s on the outside, to take care of things, and yeah, sure, maybe, had the government, the social services spread their tentacles farther, then, not that many children will die, but hey, this IS a bureaucracy, and, everything operates on money, and, seeing how funding is currently, lacking, how the HECK are we going to, afford these plans of safety nets for the children? Up the taxpayers’ taxes? Yeah, that’ll get everybody talkin’ all right!
