A Case in Miaoli, the Young Boy Had Shiners on His Eyes, the Stepfather Taken into Custody by the Police

Is being nosy, up into someone else’s business a good thing???  Maybe, maybe not, another case of “discipline” gone too far here, from the Front Page Sections, translated…

A nine-year-old boy in Miaoli arrived to the police station to report a case of abuse, claimed that his stepfather, Tseng had, beaten him up, and the cabdriver who drove the boy and his family to the station saw how the boy’s eyes were so bruised that they are barely opened up, he’d posted the picture of the boy’s shiner, said that he couldn’t withstand it, and the online community went after the stepfather; Tseng apologized in public, and stated he was willing to be responsible for what he did to his stepson based off of the laws.  The police took him into custody on breaking the laws to prevent domestic violence, and breaking the laws of child protection, the D.A. mandated him to house arrest.

Tseng’s stepfather was interviewed by phone, and he told the press that his stepson had stolen repeatedly, awhile ago, the teacher from his school notified him, he’d grilled his stepson at home, and the child refused to tell the truth, after he’d, pressed it out of him, he’d admitted to stealing his classmate’s ordered goat milk, he lost it, and beaten up the child.  That was the very first time he’d lain a hand on the boy, wanted to teach him a lesson, to let him know, that he shouldn’t steal.  He’d felt very bad afterwards, and was willing to answer to the law for it.

The director of the local social services office, Chang said, that the boy was listed as a high-risk family, in the past, there were incidents of his mother getting beaten up by his stepfather, and from before, the child was beaten by the mother on the hand and on his butt for discipline.

As the boy’s case was being reported, the Fans Group, “the Firm” posted the photo of the boy with his shiner, and he was having difficulties opening up his eyes, and the editor of the group told, that it was the cabdriver who couldn’t watch it anymore, he’d reported it online, that it was the young boy’s grandparents who’d, taken him to the station to report, and they’d told the driver that the stepfather had beaten him up like so.

And, the focus here, is not just how this stepfather had gone too far in disciplining his own stepson, but how the online community had, reacted to what happened, like the case from yesterday, the online community is just, taking justice into their own hands, becoming vigilantes and that’s not good, but sometimes, we would need to get a bit nosy, and not just, mind our own separate businesses, to make sure that these sorts of abuse stop happening all around us, and so, it’s, not that easily to tell how far to go…
