The fourth-year student, nicknamed, “Goody” from Shih-Jien University in the early hours of midnight yesterday, after he was done singing karaoke, he’d helped another drinker to get a cab, he got into a fight, with a fellow man who got drunk, who’d, wanted to alight the cab, the man who was drunk, Shih called out to him, “Don’t go!”, and rode his scooter home, broguth a gun back to the scene, fired two shots on Chen, Chen was shot in the abdomen, and died on the way to the hospitals.
The police found, that the shooter, Shih (age 37) owns a hotpot shop, is very passionate about helping the local community, very gentle and mild, he was among the better educated in the locals, this time, he’d gotten drunk and shot the college student, his families and friends all shook their heads in disbelief.
Afterward, Shih was filled with remorse, and turned himself in to the police with an attorney by his side, claimed that the gun was given to him to keep by his older brother-in-law who works in a funeral home, after the interrogations, the police charged him with possession of weapon and murder, sent him to the local D.A.’s office.
The victim of the shooting, Chen (age 22) lived in Kaohsiung, he’d worked in a pizza parlor regularly, two years ago, he’d shared the news of a man, carrying a knife and walked around his college campus, and wrote, “Now, everybody goes out, and takes a machete with her/him!”, and he’d, gotten shot himself.
The police stated, that as the shooting happened, Chen and Shih were with two of their friends, singing in a karaoke bar, they were both intoxicated, as they were leaving, they’d asked the bar staff to call them a cab. The host of the bar told Chen that his cab had arrived, but as Chen went to the doors, he’d found Shih had, sent his friend into the cab that was, supposedly called for him, they’d gotten into confrontation because of this.
Chen grilled Shih on why he’d stolen their cab? And screamed, “What the F*** are you talking about?”, Shih hollered back, “Don’t go away if you dare!” he’d immediately ridden off on his scooter, got a gun from his home, then, came back, SHOT Chen twice in his stomach.
Chen’s family were notified, and rushed overnight to Chihshan, his mother fell limp from crying as she saw her son’s body in the morgue, the D.A. examined Chen’s body, and confirmed the cause of death as internal bleeding caused by the gunshot wound to his abdomen, which led to the failures of his internal organs.
Had these men not been drinking, then, this could’ve well been, prevented, but because they were both drinking, and emotions ran high, and people took one another’s words as insults, and got angry, and started firing off at each other, that just showed, how alcohol is still, a catalyst in this tragedy that resulted in the death of this student from college!
