The doll machine arcades are, everywhere, and this, is NOT a good sign for the economy at all!  Off of the Front Page Sections, translated…

The doll machines arcades opened up close to schools in bundles, the Hsinbei City set up the rules, that there should NOT be any arcades within 100 meter radius from the schools, the Taoyuan Parents’ group wanted to follow Hsinbei’s examples, hoped that the city government can set up laws to restrict the locations of operations for these shops, so the children don’t get too drawn in.

The city of Hsinbei became a frontiersperson, the city government passed a bill on September 25th, delegated that the opening of these shops should be over a hundred meters away from preschools, elementary, middle schools, and high schools and technical high schools, and not have the adult items such as sex toys, diamonds, jewelries, cigarettes, alcohol, betel nuts, live animals, and other items the government believed to be illegal and unfitting; the draft of the bill is already, sent to the committees, and should be implemented, beginning next year.

The city government of Taoyuan also found the troubles that come with the shops too, last year, they’d estimated, that there were, 135 shops, about twenty-percent of all the shops opening up within 800 meters radius from the local schools, the local city council woman, Wan and the Family Counsel’s honorary C.E.O. Lu, suggested that the Taoyuan City government followed the leads of the Hsinbei City goverments setting up a law.

Wan pointed out, a lot of these doll arcades are too close to the schools, with an assortment of products inside the machines, even those which deemed to be, inappropriate for children, but because it’d only cost $10N.T.s a try, the children are easily enticed to play it, and they’re easily lured in.  Lu also told, that a lot of the parents from dual-income families complained to him, that they’d given their young a hundred, to two hundred dollars a day for meals, and, the children still come home, complaining of hunger to them, and, they’d asked them, and fo8und, that the money they’d given to their young for the meals, their children spent on playing the arcades, hoped that the city government can crack down these shops.

The Department of Education in Taoyuan’s head counselor, Cheng pointed out, that currently, the city government set up a committee, and will work alongside the Department of Education, the police forces, and other units outside of the schools, to go to the various locations of these arcades, to see if there were items being sold off that were, illegal, and age-inappropriate, and if they’d found students hanging around, they will, try to get them to go home.

And because in these machines, you are, risking very little ($10N.T. per try), and, you have the chance of getting the items that normally costs over a hundred dollars in the shops, and so, naturally, people want to “roll the dice”, besides, you only, lost a ten-dollar coin, but, for children, it has this lure, as the toys in the machines, although, not high in quality, but they represented winnings, and, who wouldn’t want to win something, when you can, spend so very little ($10N.T./try)?
