This man was voted, the Model Educator!  Off of the Front Page Sections, translated…

The principal of Three-Villages Elementary School, Huang, as he’d started working as an educator, he’d started using “story-telling” to encourage his students, and, as he’d become a school principal, he’d still, employed the story-telling ways, became “the principal who loved telling stories”, he’d recently gotten nominated as the model educator by the Department of Education.

Huang originally didn’t want to work in the field of education, as he’d studied in the teachers’ college and saw the movie, “The Chien-Ying Bridge”, on how two teachers, because they’d made offering education to children in the distant regions their utmost priorities, they’d gone to school when the typhoons hit, and as they’d attempted to cross over the bridge that connected the town to the elementary school, they were, washed away by the raging rivers, it’d made him become an educator.

After he graduated out of Teacher’s College, he was, assigned to a distant-region elementary school in Changwha, he noted how most of the children from the lower end of the socioeconomic statuses, because they’d lacked encouragements, supports from their families, most didn’t find it fun in studying and learning, which made him start to think, about how he can, make learning fun for the children, to help them find the motivations to learn?  He’d recalled how back when he was in school, if the students did well in the classes, the instructors would tell stories as a form of reward.

Huang started finding the inspirations from the “Book of Small Stories with Huge Morales”, the interesting things he’d encountered in his life, the news reports, the movies, the novels, he’d, collected them and told them as stories to the students.  He said, while he was telling the tales, he couldn’t just read from the books or the texts, he’d, needed to become, animated, and the story telling sessions became interactive, and the floor is opened up, for the children to share their experiences, their connections to the stories, to help the students develop their verbal skills.

As he’d started working as the principal of Tucheng Elementary School, Huang would tell the stories to the students in the morning flag ceremonies; after he’d started working as the principal of Ching-An Elementary, he’d heard a transfer student from Tucheng Elementary School telling his mother, “After I’d transferred to Principal Huang’s school, I am going to have so many good stories told to me!”, Huang was so happy as he’d heard, turned out, that the kids were, very concentrated, and very into the stories he was, telling them.

reading to children at school…

Huang used his story-telling techniques, hoping, that people can see how dedicated he is, hearing his reminders and encouragements, he not only told stories to his students, but also, the parents, and the teachers as well.  He told the papers honestly, that before he stands up on the podium, he’d felt, angst, but, for the sake of the students sitting in the audience, he can, become, the best kind of storyteller.

And, this is just how powerful stories can be, and, this man found a way to teach, that works for him, and, because he’d shown such passion for what he does, that is why, all the students, the teachers were, receptive of his ways, and, this man is going to, keep on, telling stories until he retires I’m sure!
