Life, the Obstacle Course

With Our Parents Around, We Shouldn’t Travel Far Away

The way to resolve this, I would think, would be creating more jobs, and paying the workers higher down south, but, it’s just, not, probable, as most of the major companies are located, up north here in Taiwan, from the Front Page Sections, translated…

Yesterday there was an interview of the locals in Chihshan, what moved me the most of this session was the thoughts of the parents whose children went up north to find work; the reporters heard them told of how they’d needed to get separated from their children, how work was harder to find back home, that they were, separated by the north and the south, and the parents worried constantly about their own young.

Based off of my personal experiences, my father had passed for many years, but my mother wasn’t left lonely on her own, her two children both found work locally, cared for her by the day, and when she’d fallen ill, they’d taken her to the doctors, she had her grandchildren to play with, in her nineties, and also followed us to travel all over the places, she’d told us satisfactorily, “I’m more than blessed in this lifetime, one day, when God called me back, I won’t have any regrets”, isn’t this, the daily goings on of a functioning family?

As Han, the candidate posed the idea of “letting the children who’d drifted up north come home”, this was like the springtime thunder, ringing true in many of our heart; and suddenly, we’d realized, that if we don’t keep our stomachs full first, we won’t have any other mind to spare, about how to run this country, without a functional country, the people are agitated, and it wouldn’t matter how high up and running well the government is then; if the government couldn’t empathize with the pains and trials of the citizens, then, they’d, left us in the depth of the abyss, and this speaking of drifting northbound to find work, hit people right where it’d, hurt the most.

The party in control of the country had rebutted, “there’s not that much of the population of the younger generations who’d, floated up north to work, that their opponents are, embellishing the facts”, this sort of painting it over, totally strays away from how the public feels on the matter; nobody cared about the statistics, but how the government will, take this matter more seriously, to help the families stay together as a whole.

And so, because work is difficult to find, that is why the younger generations of people are, heading up north in Taiwan, after all, up north is, where the major cities are located, and, compared to back in the country, the pay would definitely, be a hell of a lot higher, and so, it’s the choices of a lot of the younger generations now, to find work up north, and, they are forced, to leave their aging parents behind back home, and this, is a trend right now!
