Every time election rolled around, the Hakka dialect would always, be used, as a tool, by the candidates, for no other reasons than how the Hakka people are rarely, involved in, politics, that it’s, the second largest subculture, and the voters became, the determinant of whether or not a candidate wins an election.

The candidate of the mayor of the city of Kaohsiung, Guo-Yu Han stated in Mennon, that the parents needed to teach the children to speak their mother tongue, which got misinterpreted as how the mother tongue is being wiped out.

The Hakka teachings of, “willing to sell of the land of their ancestors, but NOT allowing the words of our ancestors be, forgotten!”, since ages before, the Hakka people understood, to NEVER forget one’s own roots, and, the various things at home, are best used as materials of teaching; there are, the various dialects of the Hakka tongue, and, learning to speak it at home, will give the children the advantage of getting exposed to the various subdialects, and if the teachers of one subdialect teaches at a region that spoke another subdialect, then, it would, bring troubles to both the students AND the teachers.

And, this showed, how important it is, to speak your mother tongue with your young at home, even IF it isn’t the language you would use when you go out in the world, because it’s, a part of the children’s heritage, and, we shouldn’t, allow our young, to forget their roots…
