What this kid longed for, was everybody’s attention, it wasn’t at all, that he’d, cared the least bit about the environment
I stood by and watched a local child introduced the various kinds of fishes caught by the coastline of Penghu by a local child. He’d taken the light steps, out onto the waves, bareback, with a pole, stood atop the coral reefs, and, surely enough, he’d gotten, ALL the tourists’ attention shortly.
In front of this young child, there was, a small pond, enclaved with the rocks, with a variety of local marine life swimming inside, “This is a rosed razor fish, its habitats are in the crystal clear, unpolluted waters paved with the pebbles.” “This is a horseshoe crab, it’s a living fossil!”, “This, a sea urchin, a grouper………”, he’d used his bright but childish voice, and explained the names and the habitats of each and every one of the marine animals to the visitors, and everybody was focused on listening to him, and we’d all, applauded every now and then too.
Such a child who truly, loved the oceans, shown such respect for life, and, loved everything about the seas.
He didn’t have that coldblooded nature of the fishers, what he had, was that innocent, deep love for all the marine creatures.
And yet, sometimes, the bliss comes from, NOT knowing the whole story.
This child who was so proud, used his bamboo pole, and, secretly, pierced through the body of an eel close by, and, slammed it against the rocks, dyeing the waters, complete red.
So, this child doesn’t really love the ocean after all, what he loved, was all the attention he received, and the commends that the tourists had, given him.
That salty wind, with the bluer than blue water, I’d, opened my eyes wide, and, the rancid smells of fish, entered into my nostrils.
And so, this, is how this kid learned, that if he were to get the attention of others, he’d needed to, sound very, educated, but deep down, he’s actually, quite barbaric, and this, is what the society is teaching the children today, to be, DUAL-FACED liars!
