The kindness from someone, continuing on for nineteen years, and is still ongoing to this very day!  From the Front Page Sections, translated…

The epicenter of the major earthquake on September 21st was in Nantou, a lot of the locals were having troubles getting enough food, but in their darkest moments of life, a group of locals saw the situation of those who had it worse, and started delivering the meals for those who were impacted by the earthquakes, and this continued on for nineteen years on end, and the program started changing too, into a not-for-profit organization that helps out the local elderly and those who are in lower ends of the economic status, it’d added another page of acts of kindness for the rebuilding after the earthquakes, and it’d, attracted the foreign organizations to take example.

Chiu owned a mechanic shop locally, the mechanic who worked for him died in the earthquakes, being crushed underneath the debris, other than feeling sorrow over his mechanic’s death, Chiu saw that people homes were, destroyed, that they’d had difficulties, keeping their stomachs full, he’d ended his business, and entered into the “National Local Rebuilding League”, and poured his heart and soul in helping to deliver the meals into the impacted areas.

Every morning at five, Chiu would head to the local markets to shop for groceries, he also drove all the way to the port of Hsinchu to buy the fishes, because it’s cheaper there.  At first, he’d delivered the cooked meals to those whose homes had collapsed, in the quakes, and the elderly who lived alone, the local area is vast, and sometimes, he’d needed to ride his motorcycle for over a dozen kilometers just to deliver a meal, and those who were impacted in the quakes were very glad, “Thanks for Chiu’s assistance”.

But as he’d delivered, he’d found, that a lot of families that didn’t fit the criteria to receive the assistance were very much in need of it, and he’d started taking money out of his own pockets first, and delivered the meals to all the families he’d come across that were in need, but, the number of these families increased in numbers, and so, he can only, ask for funding from outside, and because the program made great progress, after the government and the league made their exit from helping out, Chiu’s meal service team still received the donations from all around, and he’d delivered the meals to those in need to this very day.

Some of the elderly didn’t eat the porridge, some didn’t eat sweets, and the foundation’s kitchens all made a note of, to satisfy the nutritional needs of the elderly.  As the former head of the legislative department, Hsieh came to see how his foundation worked, he’d felt moved and stated, “I can’t believe how delicate your locally formed organization worked so well.”  Chiu said, being able to continue the meal delivery service for nineteen years ongoing, the only key was “pouring our hearts and souls into the program”.

And so, this act of long-running kindness still started with just one thought, from someone’s heart felt sentiments of seeing those in need without the help they were in need of, and this man is still doing good for his local community, and, the outside world saw the kindness of this one man, and took after his example, and started helping out to.  This still just showed, how with just ONE act of kindness, it can, generate to many, many, many more acts of kindness, for those who are in need.
