The “Riding Against the Wind Drama Crew” Put a Show on Their Own Lives

A man who’s, found a sense of purpose he’d lacked from before, and now, he’s, passing it on, by helping other youths like he once was, from the Newspapers, translated…

“Even if we were given up on from before, we can still find our own worth, in soaring against the wind!”

Three youths who were, given up by the society back when they were younger, on the year they’d turned eighteen, they’d, set up the “Riding Against the Wind Drama Crew”, the members were all dropouts, and teens who are high-risk, through the company of theatre, they’d found their directions in life.  In three years, the Against the Wind Drama Crew had not only led the elderly in a nursing home in their plays, they’d also, put on a show “The Youth Diaries, I”, telling their own stories, with the tickets on sale.

The founder, Cheng is only twenty-one years-old, still only a junior of the Culture University’s Drama Department.  Due to his risk-taking behaviors, back in his second year of middle school, and listed as an at-risk youth since.

In high school, he’d gotten involved in drama by chance, and followed the youth troupe to tour around to the group homes across Taiwan, where he’d found, that as the adolescents got on stage, they’d, poured their hearts out in performing, “It’s something you never forget!”, he’d believed, that this can change teens just like him, three years ago, he’d received the funding from the Fubon Culture Foundation, and set up the “Against the Wind Drama Crew”.

The group invited the high-risk, the students in counseling, along with those in a group home to get involved, Cheng said, the group had gone all over to put on the shows, to attract those students who were interested to sign up, other than providing the students with professional trainings as stage performers, dancing, and other artistic skills, the funding came from three of the founders completely.

So, this, is the dreams, coming true for this man, he was once given up on, so he knew how it’d felt, to get left, and he’d, used the trials of his own life, to set up something that’s, amazing, and surely, I’m positive, that he’ll be, offering hope to many more troubled teens like he once was with his program.
