Trending now, due to the growth of the elderly and aging populations, from the Newspapers, translated…
The growth of members of the aging populations is speeding up, most were the retired members of the community, the younger generations of pupils: we want to learn the skill sets quickly, there’s a gap between the courses offered and what the society needed, which greatly impacted the willingness to register for the courses.
We’re currently, hit by the wave of the aging communities, the problems of growth of elderly in the population of community college students became a trend, the over-forty age group increased steadily, and the members of younger generations who’d registered for classes were, on a steady decline. The dean of the community college stated, the community is aging, the students aged alongside the community colleges; most of the younger generations believed that the courses offered don’t comply with the demands of the realities, which will impact their wills to sign up for the courses.

The 28-year-old member of the working class, Ms. Huang once went to the community colleges to audit a class, she’d believed, that the younger generation taking the courses are to fit the requirements of getting a job, they’d wanted the courses to be condensed, to help them improve a set of skills quickly, but the designs of the courses in community colleges are slower-based, and isn’t what she’d needed; another man in his twenties in the working class had once taken courses at the community college level, but he’d found that most of his classmates were those who were retired, that he’d lacked peers in his age group, and in the end, he’d, dropped out too.
There were only eighteen-percent in the community colleges in Taipei back in 2012, last year, it grew to thirty-one percent. But, the Taipei community colleges divided the students into older than forty and younger than forty, and found that the group older than forty is on a steady rise, while under age forty, is on a steady decline; those thirty and younger dropped from nine-percent to just five percent; the students ages sixty and older increased from eighteen-percent to thirty-one percent.

And so, this, is what’s trending here right now, because this age group is retired, and have more time on their hands, they now have the time and the energies, to spend learning what they enjoyed, which is why this age group is taking over the community colleges around Taiwan.
