The kindness of strangers here, from the Newspapers, translated…

“Aunty’s call for help, I’d, kept it in mind”, the nineteen-year-old store clerk at a 24-hour super convenience shop, Huang heard the 67-year-old woman, Hsieh complained on how her home was flooded, and nobody was helping her to clear it up, as he got off his shift early in the morn, he’d, rushed over to her home, at this time, the water level was already, rising up very high, he’d immediately helped her lock up the water gates, and helped her push all the water that was in her house outside, until ten in the morn.  Seeing how a complete stranger, Huang had helped her out, the woman who lived alone felt very moved that she cried.

Yesterday morning, Alley 212 on Fuxing Road in Keelung had flooded, a third time, Huang was working hard, closing the water valves, and this wasn’t his home, it was the home of a woman who lived alone, and he’d only seen her once from before.

Huang said, in the midnight hours of yesterday Hsieh came to the super convenience shop to buy something, and handed him a $1,000N.T. bill, he couldn’t help but asked, “why is the bill so dirty?”  She’d told him, “I’d fished it out of the water, of course it was, dirtied.”, then she’d started crying, that her house was flooded, but she lived alone, there was no one there to help her.  After she’d bought the items, and poured her heart out, she’d, left, but Huang had, carried her words to heart.

As he got off the graveyard shift at seven in the morn, Huang didn’t head home, instead, he’d looked for the woman’s house, based off of her descriptions, and found her place, located in the 212nd Alley of Fuxing Road.  He’d knocked on the door a long time, and the woman came to answer, at which time, the rain started pouring down, and, the water passed through the streets, and flooded into the woman’s home, he’d immediately helped turned off the water valves, and, scooped out the water for her, the woman was so moved, seeing him there to help her, she’d started crying nonstop.

Later on, as the water had, receded, he saw the Mayor, Lin and others come by, he was on his way to head out to call to them for help, and the rain started pouring down again, and, the sewage lid next to the woman’s home was popped up, he’d rushed back in, helped closed the valve again, but, the water came up too quickly.

As the woman’s family found out, they’d, lifted her elsewhere to live.  Huang said, after he saw that the elderly was safe, he could, finally rest easy, and headed home to catch some sleep.

And so, this, is the kindness of a complete stranger, who offered his hand to the elderly woman as she’d asked for help, and, it’s because of his kindness, that this elderly woman is able to, head to safety, instead of living in her flooded home.
