He’d, hit a child, thinking he’d hit a car, drove off, the parents of the child should’ve, watched their young more closely, and so, both sides were, to blame for this deadly accident, from the Front Page Sections, translated…

As a cab drove across the Yong-An Road in Taoyuan on the fourth late at night, the driver ran over a little older than a year old toddler, Chuang, she was rushed to the hospital, but she’d still died.  The police followed the leads, and arrested the driver, Chen two afternoons ago, charged him with hit-and-run, and vehicular manslaughter, the judge granted his custody by the police.

The police investigated, that the child’s parents were owners of a barbeque stand, and as they were cleaning up the stands late at night, they’d not paid enough attention to their young, that was how she ran out onto the streets, and, was hit by Chen (age 65); and, after the accident, the parents blamed themselves for not watching their young closely enough.

The driver, Fang said, that at around eleven in the evening on the fourth, as he was, driving across the intersection of Yong-An Road, he saw a young child, crossing the roads, and, a little bit after he drove passed the intersections, he’d heard a loud bang; he saw in the rearview, that the other cab stopped, later, drove next to him, he’d asked the man, “Did you hit someone?”, the man claimed he didn’t, and just, left, he felt suspicious, and returned back, and found that a young child was hit and injured severely, he’d, immediately called the police.

The mother of the child said, back then, they were putting up their shop, she saw her daughter sitting on the rock outside the stand, and, as she’d turned back around, the child was gone, and, ran onto the roads, and was, hit shortly thereafter, by an unknown vehicle.

The police reviewed the surveillance, and arrested Chen, the cabdriver, he said he wasn’t taking a customer, was just on his way home, he thought he’d, hit a cat, a dog, or some other kind of garbage that’s left on the road, didn’t think he’d hit a person, and so, as he thought, “What will I do”, he’d, driven off.

After the police questioned him, they sent him to the Taoyuan D.A.’s office, the D.A. charged him with manslaughter, hit and run, and asked the courts to have him taken into custody, the courts believed that Chen is at flight risk, and, yesterday, had mandated him to be taken into custody.  And whether or not the parents of the young child were negligent, the Social Services, and the D.A.’s offices are, looking into it.

And surely, the parents were, at least, NEGLIGENT, as they didn’t watch their young child closely enough, and she got HIT by a cab, and so, in this case, BOTH the driver, and the parents of this young child are, guilty.
