Why even IF you’re trying to make a deadline of sorts, you still need to take time to get off the road to sleep, and this person isn’t even on a deadline, he just decided that he didn’t need to sleep, and, he’d, lost his life!  Tragic, really, from the Front Page Sections, translated…

The man, Chen and his friend took on the challenge of motorcycling across the island, as they watched the sunrise early in the morning yesterday after arriving in Kenting, Pingdong, as they rode up north, passed the Fangshan County in Pingdong, Chen was suspected of being too fatigued, he’d rammed into the car at the side of the road, he was rushed to the hospital, but still died.  As Chen’s father was called, he’d told, that his son told him just two days ago that he was circling around the island, “I’d only fallen asleep for one night, and I will, never see him again!”

The police believed, that this accident was caused by the motorists not paying attention to what’s up ahead of him, and the tour bus parked illegally, to pick up the passengers at the side of the road was the secondary cause of this crash; based off of Chen and his friend’s schedule, the police believed, that they’d planned to challenge the cyclist’s “24-Hour Endurance Trip”, riding across the island in just one day, he’d ridden, not having enough rest, that, was why the accident had, occurred.

At the preliminary investigations, Chen (age 36) who’s a chef, at six in the afternoon two days ago, after meeting up with his friend in Linkou, they rode their motorcycle to Cape Rich by the northeast corner, then all the way southbound, passed through Keelung, Yilan, Hualien, Taidong, with the final destination being Kenting, in Pingdong.

Early yesterday morn, they’d set out from Kenting, going towards Tainan, at 7:55 in the morn, they entered onto the ramp northbound, they’d not realized that a tourbus was stopped at the shoulder, picking up passengers, they couldn’t dodge it, both the tourbus driver, and Chen hadn’t been drinking.

As the family members of Chen in Hsinchu were notified, they’d immediately ridden the HSR southbound; Chen’s father who owned a restaurant in Hsinchu said sorrowfully that he’d originally planned to hand the family business to his son who’s already certified as a chef, but he’d only been out one day, and he’s, never coming home again.

So, this just showed, that you shouldn’t BE operating a vehicle under the condition of being too fatigued, especially when these men are challenging themselves, to circle around the island in a set amount of time, they’re, gambling with their lives, without even knowing, and this tragic accident was caused by the lack of needed rest!
