This still showed, that it’s, the lacking in resources that these children are, in need of, and once the help’s been provided, they’d, started, excelling in learning! From the Newspapers, translated…
The Taiwan Teachers’ University worked hand-in-hand with the A.I.T. started pushing forth the English learning programs in the distant region middle schools, the students, who originally, couldn’t pronounce the 26 alphabets, in just seven short months, with the 90-minute per week English after school programs, can already write in English, and speak in English, they can even, order their meals in English too!
The A.I.T. and the Taiwan Teachers’ University held a results conference, with the Vice President of the school, Song leading the way, the doctoral student, Hu’s program, “Passion Rooting Teaching Teams”, with San-Ming, Yudong, and Mei-Lun Middle Schools in Hualien, working together, to help better the students’ English speaking skills.
The Taiwan Teachers’ University stated, that the PASSION team last year entered into competition set up by the U.S. State Department’s innovations in teaching, became outstanding worldwide, out of thousands of entries, there were, only 68 teams that won globally, the National University of Education and the A.I.T. worked together, to help leveling the learning curves.
Hu said, that from the middle school skills exams between 2015 and 2017, it showed, that the students in the distant regions needed more improvements on their English skills, these students may have given up on learning, because of prior bad experiences in learning to speak in English.
The university team called the students to Sanming, Yudong, and Meilun middle schools, to have the one-on-one tutors, and they’d, selected twenty-one students whose English skills didn’t surpass the fourth grade levels to help.
Hu said, that the team in the three schools hosted one English class to help with the learning, the twenty-one students attended the seven-month long rooting program, used the eighth period that they have, or the night courses’ counseling period, taken the 90-minute lessons per week, from the pronunciations of the alphabets, and, the vocabulary, the grammars, with the games that motivates the students’ learning, so they can have the basics of English down.
After the classes, the students were given the tests again, and it showed a 71 percent increase in vocabulary, sixty-five percent increase in listening, and, there’s, the progress of fifty-three percent in the hardest area to master, the grammars, ninety-percent of students felt that the English courses offered were very fun, and seventy-percent of the students told they do NOT want to give up on learning English, and read aloud their own short essays in the exhibitions.
And so, this still just showed, that given the proper instructions, these kids who were, originally bad in English, can excel, it’s just, that they weren’t, offered enough resources to learn from before, and now, they’d, found this love of learning English back, hopefully, they will carry that on throughout their schooling careers.
