This, is the heightened period of child abuse, and, there’s, a new, for the watchful eyes here, from the Newspapers, translated…

The Hsinbei City’s head of social services department, Chang said, that the city had, set up the records logged in by the social workers on at risk children, and used the analytical tools to examine the past histories, to find the cases that are, needing more attention, to prevent the cases from being abused repeatedly.

The domestic violence prevention manager, Hsu said, that from the data collected from the systems, the peaks of child abuse is during the months of June and September, at the start and at the end of the summer vacations, and there were many cases that were, already registered, the family members, being reported for abuse, all of these may be, causes for abuse, and, they’d also found, that if the families have alcoholics or drug addicts, there would be, a high chance of the families being reported as high-risk for abuse.

Like a young elementary age boy, who showed up at school, with bruises big and small, and, palm prints on his face, after the social workers intervened, they’d found, that his stepfather had used the name of discipline, to abuse him physically.

Hsu said, that since the initiation of this reporting program, they’d placed the young boy before summer started, and after the social workers intervened, the stepfather and the child’s mother admitted to taking on too much burdens, raising him.

The child also understood, that he was, physically disciplined, because he’d, misbehaved, that both needed room to adjust themselves, and so, as the term of placement is about to be up, the social services will be conducting another evaluation, to see if it will be safe, to place the young boy back with his family.

And, this, is a system that worked, but, there’s, NO way that the social workers can keep an eye on all the families at risk, because, there are, too many cases assigned to one social worker, and, there’s, just not enough personnel, and so, it would help, reduce the incidence of abuse if everybody in the neighborhood keeps a close eye on things.
