Deaths, on a hike out together, from the Front Page Sections, translated…
A man and a woman were found yesterday afternoon, dead, by the Zhong-Hen Highways of 200 meters in the Hualien section, in the cliffs, with no sign of life; the police believed the deceased were a couple from Kaohsiung, the Chens, they were found, one on top of another, the police suspected that they were, tied together by ropes.
Based off of understanding, the 62-year-old Chen was a retired government worker, his wife, Fang is a clothes designer; their son told, that they were close together, would often travel together, that two days ago, they’d gone out together, and lost contact with them, he’d never imagined that they had died.
The police yesterday attempted to get to their bodies using the helicopters, but, it didn’t work, early this morn, they’d used the ropes, to descend to the valleys, then, have the paramedics lift the bodies out; the police said, that after the bodies come up, then, they will be able to make a positive identification, and now, it’s only, speculative.
The police said, that the Taroko National Park’s Management Department’s garbage truck driver, Yen as he sped past the 159.1 K marker, found a car with the left passenger window open, nobody inside, he’d, immediately, notified the police.
The local police substation sent the officers out, they’d used a telescope to see, and found a man and a woman, fallen, by the 200 meters down from the cliffside, they’d believed, that they were, tied together by a climbing rope, the woman was in a blue shirt, the man, without his shirt on, and, it’s confirmed, that they were, both dead.
The police used the license plate of the parked car, and, found that the deceased may have been the Chens. Chen’s son stated, that on the evening of the 25th of this month, his parents left home, in a bad mood, and lost contact, he’d only heard his mother told that they were headed over to Tienxiang, Hualien; two days ago, he’d called up his mother, but they’d not talked much, and, as he’d dialed her back, the phone was already, dead.
The police said, that from how the car was parked, there seemed to have been no external forces, and, there was only a female purse inside the car, with the identifications, they’d not found anything like a last note.
And so, maybe, it was, only a hiking accident, because, the police discovered no notes inside the car, and, usually, people who planned to commit suicide would leave a note behind, so, this may just have been a climbing accident that’s, become, fatal.
