It’s, the three year anniversary of the Ba-Sien dust explosion this year, the markings the flames left on the injured, didn’t stop them from chasing after their dreams at all, Huang, who had his legs and right hand amputated, gave a speech on his story of survival, he’d published his new book, “But I Want to Live”, the woman injured, Jia-Huei Huang also opened up her own hotpot shop in Yingge, opened up a brand new chapter of her own life.

After the dust explosion at the Ba-Sien Amusement park on June 27th, 2015, Huang worked hard to survive, and, as he’d, wanted to walk a few more steps, he couldn’t, he’d, fallen down, and that, became the very last steps he’d taken in his own life. As he was lying in the I.C.U., hearing the doctors tell him, that the only way he’ll live, is if they amputated his leg, but, there was, only a five-percent rate of survival, even after the amputation, but he thought, “There are those who are, waiting for me outside this I.C.U.”, I need, to survive through this.

Currently, Huang only had his left hand, the fingers aren’t as agile. He said, after the injuries, he’d, lost the ability to walk himself to the bathrooms, blamed himself for not being useful, kept trying, to find a way, and now he had, “I no longer thinking in terms of I couldn’t, but in terms, I am not there yet.”, the saddest part of life is not losing one’s limbs, but not having any dreams, and not being brave enough, to pursue one’s own dreams.

Huang gave a speech in a certain middle school, there was a young girl who’d told him, that she’d, originally wanted to give up on math, which she’d not done well in, but now, she’d wanted to become more like him, face all the challenges that comes toward her; he’d keyed his tale of survival of over 90,000 characters, which he’d had the promotion for back in January of this year.

Huang who was a graduate of the Wen-Hwa University’s kinesiology department, originally planned to work as a kinesiology instructor at the Hsin-Ming Technical University in Hsinchu before, but, a week after she’d graduated, she’d, gotten injured in the dust explosions, she’d suffered fifty-four percent surface burns of second to third degree extent, she lay in the hospital for three months, she felt defeate4d.

After a year and a half’s worth of rehabilitation, Huang had finally, with the help from her uncle, started up a hotpot shop “The Tsuei Hot Pot” in Yingge, Hsinbei City, Huang would operate the machines in the kitchens to cut the meats, pick up the plates, and hand menus to the customers too. She said, she’d had a heartwarming customer, who’d showed her a tentative ear, and compassions toward her, making her cry.

And, these are just two of many tales, of how someone triumphed through the hardships of their lives, and, it’d been, three whole years since the dust explosions, and, there are still, many who were injured by the events, who are still, in recovery, but, these two amazing people, are well on their ways, to making a full recovery, mentally and psychologically!
