The thirty-one year-old navy lieutenant, Lai, was suspected of posting on FB to find “part-time girls” to hook, and was suspected of prostitution with a high school age girl, and attempted to have sexual intercourse with two others unsuccessfully. The Kaohsiung District Attorney’s Office found him to have broken the laws on prevention of children and adolescent’s sex trade act, the judge mandated Lai being taken into custody.
The Navy stated, that they’d given Lieutenant Lai three major reprimands, and gave him the harshest punishment possible, of “relieving him of his duty”, last week, they’d, delivered the order to the substation where he was being held in custody. Lai will not only be faced with forced discharge, he couldn’t, receive ANY retirement pensions. The military officials said, that Lai graduated out of the air force academy, was unwed, and, his coworkers knew that he’d enjoyed making female friends, but, they’d never thought he would have gotten involved with solicitations.
As the D.A. and the police were notified, the captain, Lai had multiple times, solicited on FB’s “Kaohsiung Part-Time Cash opportunities”, messaging, “are there, young women who are in need of part-time jobs? Paying in Cash, highest up to $10,000N.T. each time”, he’d used the high pays to attract the women to text him privately, and, after they’d agreed on the prices, they’d, gone to the motels, to have sex together.
At the start of the month, Lai was caught and taken into police custody, he’d admitted to soliciting for sex online, the preliminary investigations found, that he’d paid a couple of thousand dollars last December, and had sex with a high school age girl of not yet sixteen. Between the months of March and April this year, two underage female students answered, but after they’d been told what he’d wanted, they’d, declined.
To prevent Lai from corroborating with anybody about his statements, after he was interrogated, he was taken into custody, the police is now, looking deeper into the case, to see if there are, more victims.
Based off of the children and adolescents protective laws, seducing underage minors to engage in sexual intercourse can get the perpetrator anywhere between a year and seven years’ jail sentences, and because Lai is hired by the government, his sentence may be increased by half.
The department of the navy that Lai belonged is currently stationed at Zuoying Naval Base, there were, twenty-seven helicopters, including eighteen S-70C, eight 500MD, one 500D, primarily responsible for the searches conducted in air.
The Naval Commands issued a statement, stating, that they would severely punish those who’d broken the rules in the armed services, and show NO favoritism to anyone who’d broken the laws.
And so, this, is NOT just a problem of the person involved, it also goes to show, how lacking in discipline the armed forces are becoming, if these officers serving in the armed services can’t even keep themselves in check, then, what HOPE have we, of looking to them to protect us, when the country is under attack??? This, is a VERY serious problem of morale here.
