Call this, MURDER by NEGLECT if you will!!! From the Front Page Sections, translated…

The 26-year-old woman, Hsu two afternoons ago went out with her friend for a meal, and shopping, for four hours, left her four-year-old son with her eight-months-old young infant son alone at home, two evenings ago, as she’d returned back, she’d found her infant son was sleeping on his belly, wasn’t breathing anymore, rushed him to the hospital, but he’d, died. The police charged the woman with manslaughter, and found that she’d broken the laws of children and adolescent welfare, and reported her to the social services department.

The police investigated, at around seven in the evening two nights ago, as Hsu returned to her home in Nangang District, she’d found her eight-months old son asleep on his belly on the double bed without signs of life, she’d immediately called emergency; as the paramedics arrived, they’d rushed the infant male to the Tri-Service General Hospital, and after close to an hour’s of resuscitation, he’d still died, and the cause of death was asphyxiation.

When the child died, the 42-year-old boyfriend, Liu wasn’t home, as they’d received the notices, they’d rushed to the hospital, and started crying hard, and two evenings ago, they went to the police station in Nangang to be interrogated.

Hsu claimed to the police, that two afternoons ago, she’d gone to Banciao, Hsinbei to shop and have lunch with a friend, leaving her four-year-old eldest son at home alone with her eight-months old son, they were both asleep on the same bed; and, she’d recalled NOT having pulled the covers up for her younger son, and as she’d returned home, she’d found the infant on his belly, with the head inside the covers, and as she’d picked him up, he wasn’t, breathing already, back then, her older son was asleep in bed also.

The police examined the infant’s body, found no external injuries, and, after they’d reviewed over the surveillance of the community, they’d found that Hsu left her home at around three in the afternoon, and came back home at seven, that her statement matched up, there wasn’t any sign of inconsistency.

And because this is a matter of child protection, the police immediately notified the anti-domestic violence call center to have the social workers step in, the body is temporarily placed on ice at the second funeral hall in Taipei, waiting for the D.A.s decision, of whether to charge Hsu with negligence.

Based off of the laws to protect the welfare of children and adolescents, the parents, the guardians, or the primary caretakers of children should NOT leave children under six home alone, or give them to be looked after to an inappropriate adult, and the infant’s mother is likely to face up to the fine of $15,000N.T.s, the highest for the negligence.

But hey, you think that the $15,000N.T.s this woman is made to pay would what? Bring her own infant son back to life? You’ve GOT to be shitting me here! This is negligence, you’re NOT supposed to leave your kids home alone on their own, or have a little one, babysit another little one when they’re both under the age of TEN, why can’t you get that, huh? And, this kid who’d died, well, that’s, just another lesson, NOT yet learned in time………
