The Meaning of the Trips

Realizing, just how blessed she was, to have her husband, as her personal photographer, and she’d, taken him for granted, until this woman pointed out to her, translated…

From before the travels meant seeing more, listening more, increasing my knowledge on things, until lately, I’d gained, a different understanding of what it’s all about.

After I’d retired, I’d followed a tour group out, and met a woman my age; we’d chatted on, and she’d told me, “I’m so envious of you, having your own set photographer. He’s very good at the compositions of the photos, making you look even more radiant. At our age, we must, catch youth by its tail, to get more beautiful shots of ourselves.” I couldn’t help but laugh, turns out, she’d, hung around us, and looked, at my husband’s photographs.

In her reminding me, I’d started, paying more attention to taking the pictures. Turns out, the beauties all had a selfie stick in hand. And, some of the tour members’ husbands didn’t come with them, and, some of their husbands hated taking pictures, and so, they could only, rely on themselves, done the selfies. And that was when I realized, just how blessed I was, to have my own special photographer, who will, capture me at my most radiant moments.

The woman’s words were, a wakeup call to me! I kept believing, that asking my husband to take shots of me was something ordinary, never felt grateful, or how it could be, envied upon. Turns out, this ordinariness, was the bliss that others are, hoping for, I’m truly grateful, for the member of the tour group, for reminding me of it.

And so, with that heart of gratitude, each and every photo started having the depth, the beauties it never had before. That was when I’d, finally realized, the meaning of the trips, for me, it’s, to see the easily ignored bliss in the ordinariness of life.

And, this, is how someone outside can point out something you’d, taken for granted to you, and make you cherish what you have in life, and sometimes, it takes, an OUTSIDE perspective, to SHOW us how lucky we are blessed, with the things, the people we have, around us.
