Paralyzed from the Waist Down, But that Didn’t Diminish His Love for Being On Stage, He’d Found a Stage in China to Perform on

The tenth Strait Forum hosted its very first “Story Gathering” this year, to use the methods of storytelling, to show how the two sides of the straits had, interacted well together, hoping these stories can get to the locale, to make more sparks.

The handicapped man from the Amis tribe in Taiwan, Cheng, due to the illness of childhood, he’d become, paralyzed from the waist down. Three years ago, he’d attended the seventh annual gathering of the straits, and heard on how China had protected, and encouraged the handicapped individuals, and he’d, started performing and attending in the various shows and competitions in China, hoping that the skills of handicapped individuals can be made aware to the general public.

Cheng said, he’d wanted to tell everybody, that those who are handicapped, is like any other, that the talent shows of these individuals in both Taiwan and China should be put under the spotlight, that more people need to see it, he hoped, that with his story, he can, inspire more who are handicapped, he believed, that everybody has a right, to pursue her/his own dreams, that in the future, he will keep on, fighting for the rights of the handicapped performers both in China, and in Taiwan continually.

There are more and more members of the younger generations who’d gone to China to find work, Cheng was also, one of them, after attending the seventh Strait Forum, he’d made up his mind, on going to China to find work. He’d told, that as he arrived to Beijing, things didn’t go too well, at the very beginning, there was, no insurance of his work, no set days off, and, as it’d snowed, there was no heating systems available either, and when he fell ill, he can only take the over-the-counter medications, and yet, because of an opportunity, he’d received the invitation from the Entrepreneur of First Steel Company, became the very first representative of the company in Taiwan, and, set up a platform for the Taiwanese youth to shine on.

And, this man, finally shone through, with his persistence, and his, not giving up on himself, he’d dreamed up a dream, and, with this relentless pursuit of his beliefs, he’d, finally, made a stage for himself!
