The lacking in the English lessons in the school, needs to be made up at home, but, how can it be, made up at home, when the parents work, and just, “ship” their young to afterschool programs after they get out of their regular school hours, huh??? This is ideal, but, let’s get real here!!! From the Newspapers, translated…

On the matter of teaching the younger children English, the mother of three, the University of Education founded high school English instructor, Wu said, the best way to improve the reading skills is by reading more, she’d selected the English books or illustrated books that fitted to her own children’s level of understanding, and read along with her own young. The lecturing professor of Shijien University of the Applied Languages major, Chen said, the parents and teachers should help instill that sense of desire to learn English, to continually reading materials in English in children, not just for the sakes of the examinations.

The biggest problem for the children learning English is the lacking in “continuance”. Chen said that in the elementary years, the children may have fun in learning English, but soon as they entered into middle school, they’re being, “abused” in learning. In middle school, the students studied the English tests, for the sake of making a good grade on the levels exams to get them into good high schools, and once the kids lagged behind in the elementary years, there were, a ton of children who’d, given up on the English subjects completely.

The key point in learning English is not the “when”, but the “how”. Chen said, that the key for the English lessons in the elementary school level should be “continuation”, and because we’d needed focus on the speaking and listening skills, there would be a need, for a very long period of time in practice, then, you will see the results. “Don’t teach English like it was, a regular subject”. For instance, use the five to ten minutes’ time as students enter the class in the morn, to have them read the story books in English.

And, Chen also believed, that the English lessons offered in the elementary years were too rigid, too dry, too boring, the teachers should use the illustrated books, the reading materials to help spark that love of learning, so the parents can trust in the regular education systems, and stop spending the time and the money for their young to be in cram schools. And, the parents can also help the kids by having them watch the cartoons in English, getting them more interested in things happening abroad.

so they will be doing this when they’re, older, photo still from online…

And so, in order for the students here to learn English effectively, it can’t just happen inside the FOUR walls of the classrooms, or the cram schools, work also, MUST be done at home too, but, parents don’t have the time, they need to work, to PROVIDE the money for a better education for their young, and you DO see the problem here, don’t you???
