The police department estimated, that of the 25,792 people who’d gone missing back in 2017, there were 3,865 out of 10,000 from ages 12 to 17, the highest, and 72 percent of the reason for missing was “Running away”, followed by “not coming home after school” and “leaving home with a member of the family”. The police analyzed, that most of the teens, when they left home, the parents don’t even know, that they’re, easily, absorbed by the drug cartels, the scam artist rings.
The survey results posted by the Children’s Welfare Foundation showed, that there was over 30-percent of children and adolescents who’d left home suddenly, “without prior experiences, the families stated that the children didn’t show any signs, and were completely clueless over why they’d run away”, this showed, that most of the teens who ran away from home, may be related to how estranged they are with their parents.
The officer from the Detective Agencies stated, that most teens leave home, are from single-parent families, cross generation families, or parents who worked, when they are troubled, there was nobody to hear them out, the distances between parent and child, not doing well in school, they’d left home, to find that place to belong, and, because they are trying to become financially independent, therefore, they are, easy targets for the scam rings.
The police pointed out, that from the realms of school, the belief of “doing well in school, getting better grades” passed from the schools to the instructors, which then, affected the interactions between the teachers and the students, and if the teachers labeled the students who don’t do well enough as “making bad grades means you’re a bad person”, then, it would easily affect how the student gets along with her/his peers, and, the teen will have self-doubt, lost interests in school, this is one of the major cause of running away from home too.
And so, this is all related, with the teenager at the center, and everything else that’s going on in their homes, happening to them at school, and the teachers they don’t help either, because this society is too focused on the grades, instead of the overall health of students!
