The features of a woman, overcoming the obstacles of her own life, translated…
As we gathered, Shu-Ping had an androgynous head of short hair, with her long boots, walked toward us like nothing’s holding her back, her smile, was bright like the sun.
Born in 1975, she’d married to Taiwan from Anhui for over twenty years, she was an odd duck in all her friends, also, a light of dawn for her husband’s family. Shu-Ping started working in the big cities in her teens in China, several years later, she’d met her husband who was sent over from Taiwan to work, and after she married him, she’d lived with him in Sanchong, stayed at home and took care of the household, and looked after her terminally ill father-in-law, cleaned up his bedsores, putting the meds on his body, and helped him lived for another eight, to nine years.
With the children getting older, plus the economic downturn in Taiwan, for the sake of household economics, Shu-Ping decided to start work at a breakfast shop. Only a few days since her first day of work, she’d already memorized the ways of making the dozen drinks and food items served in the shop, she’d reacted quickly, was able-bodied, it’d impressed the female owner of the shop. She’d thought she’d found a permanent stay for work here, but, one day, a female coworker who was a good friend of hers had a confrontation with the female shop owner, she’d decided to back her friend up, and, quit the job at the breakfast shop with her friend. Being out of work, Shu-Ping was overcome with the economic pressures, and on that very afternoon, she’d found a storefront, and opened up a shop of her own.
Opening up her shop in such a condensed area, Shu-Ping knew, that whether it be the foods she served, the prices, the services needed to excel everybody else’s for her shop to survive. For instance, the drinks, Shu-Ping added the varieties, the milk teas were brewed by the best milk, and although she is too busy every day, she’d insisted on allowing the customers choose the sweetness, the hot or cold, and how much ice goes into their drinks.
This was all on Shu-Ping’s memories. Every business she’d done once, she’d remembered her clients’ faces, with their preferences of foods and drinks, and this not only sped up the ordering process, it’d made the customers feel that they were important to her. The habits of the diners, perhaps, the families of the clients didn’t even know, but, Shu-Ping recalled everything about every client she ever has, it’s a wonder, her business was always flourishing, in just three years, she’d bought a property, and took her families out of the lines of being snails without the shells.
She’d moved here years ago, but Shu-Ping still had that accent from her hometown, but, was very fluent in Taiwanese. Awhile ago, she’d entered into the Taiwanese singing competitions, and accidentally won, it’d thrilled and shocked all of us, who’d been speaking in Taiwanese since we were children! Shu-Ping who appeared optimistic and sunny, comfortable in her place, but if she didn’t tell us, then, nobody knew how much storms she’d weathered, to get to where she currently is!
And so, this is how this woman became successful, she’d STUCK to her values, and just worked hard, gotten to know the preferences of each and every one of her clients, that was how she was able to get her business so well, and, she has a good attitude toward life, which was the most important thing that’s made her this successful in her own life!
