Sixty Percent of Younger Generation Felt NOTHING Towards Reading, the Scholars Advises Reading Mystery and Detective Novels, to “Train Your Logic” in a Cross-Generation Forum

All of the world’s nation emphasized reading, in a forum of the generations, the scholars pointed out, that simply encouraging the readers aren’t enough, you’d also need to make sure that the children are understanding what they were reading. It’s important, to read to your own young, reading together is a good starting point, and, the children in the distant regions has the teachers accompanying them as they read, the results may be even better.

The Tzu-Chi Foundation hosted the “Fifty Years of Education” forum yesterday, invited the elder, the middle age, the younger generations.

Tsai said, that reading is very important, but, a lot of the adolescents and their parents don’t read as much. In a 2017 survey on the topics, it’d shown, that sixty percent of younger generations felt nothing toward reading, the placement of PISA, dropped to 23rd in 2015, from the eighth in 2012. An-Ting Liu said, that the love of reading should start at home, with the parents, “Reading as a family is a great starting point.”

The founder of the foundation, Jia-Tong Lee said, that his foundation “forces” children to read, and that detective novels are a must, “it can train the logic in the younger people.”; the key to reading is asking, “Do you understand what you read?”, and just encouraging children to read is not quite enough.

Lee said, that now, in the elementary years and middle school years, the schools don’t encourage children to read the novels, but he’d believed, that detective novels are the best. He’d found, that a lot of the children didn’t have enough logic, he’d once given the children “Sherlock Holmes” to read, then, asked them two questions: “who was the killer?”, the other, “How did Sherlock solve the crimes?”, for the very first question, ALL the children answered, that “Sherlock Holmes was the killer”, and nobody answered the second question correctly.

Lee said, that reading for children living in the distant regions are hard, as they read, there would be a need for an instructor, leading them. “The teachers need to teach the students HOW to read”, and not just encourage them to read, the teachers must understand WHAT the children understood about the materials they’d read.

And, how to help the children to have better morals, Tai said, in the process of educational developments, they’d only cared about grade performances, and, a lot of moral education, life education started, slacking off. He’d believed, that in the past, the grades affected the images of a school greatly, “Now, this had started turning around.” Whether or not the schools can get more students, to continue running, “this has a lot to do with life and moral education”.

An-Ting Liu said, that children in the distant regions may have been growing up in trying circumstances, for instance, in a physically or verbally violent environment, and the instructors should work even harder, to help the children have great characters.

Lee pointed out, that a lot of the college professors found the students are using cell phones in class, but there was nothing they could do, “because these days, the teachers are fearing the students more and more”. But “the teachers must be outspoken, and tell the students what they don’t want to hear.”

And so, this, is a big problem, with the quality of students, gone down, compared to before, and, this is going to make teaching in class even harder, for the school instructors, and, many instructors may have the passions of teaching when they started, but, based off of how things are going, they will eventually, lose their love for teaching, because the quality of students had, gone to the D-O-G-S!!!
