The Household Dog Bitten and Injured a One-Year-Old Boy on the Back of His Head

A young boy of a year and a half in Taidong was attacked by the pit bull that the family had two and a half months ago, the child’s grandfather heard him scream, and found that the pet was biting tightly onto his grandson’s back of the head, he’d immediately pried open the jaws of the dog, rescued his grandson who was bleeding in the head, and rushed the child to the hospital.

The child had a fracture in his skull, was hospitalized for over two months, made a full recovery, then, discharged from the hospital, thankfully, the child didn’t have any brain damage. The doctor, He-Shu Gu from the hospital stated, that there are almost NO cases like this one from the literature, thankfully, the grandfather was able to rescue the grandson on time, otherwise the consequences would’ve been, unimaginable.

He said, the way to prevent a child from being attacked by a dog, is to not let the dog come near the child, or to bar the child from the dog, especially for those dogs who are attack oriented, and the parents also needed to teach their young, to not get close to the dogs that they’re not familiar with, and if there was an attack, then, take the children to the hospital immediately, to avoid infections on the wound, or contracting rabies.

A research report from the U.S. showed, that children being attacked by household pets took up fifty-three-percent, and the neighbor’s pets attacking takes up twenty-one percent of the cases; the young children who were attacked by the pets, about five percent suffered serious injuries, that the parents should NOT allow young children to have any contacts with the pets.

And so this is a very awful thing, because the parents didn’t educate that young boy, that pets are animals, especially with a pit bull, they’re bred to fight, and so, naturally, they’re, usually aggressive, and this child had sustained some serious injuries, and it’s still due to the carelessness of the parents!
