The Brighter Skies

Helping a child succeed, that, is what is important, translated…

Su-Jing disclosed that something good will happen at home, I couldn’t get at what she was talking about. Based off of what I understood, her two sons are still in school, one in college, the other, in the elementary years, so what was the blessed event? I’d received the invite later, turned out, that her youngest son, Lang Yu was going to have a piano solo recital, “For all the music he’d learned in elementary school, summing it up; and on the other hand, he was ready, for whatever comes next, going toward a brand new beginning!” Su-Jing explained where her “blessed” feelings came from, and that was when I’d realized, that I had a narrow definition for what is a blessing.

Lang Yu wasn’t even twelve yet, but he’d gone all over the island, competed in many musical competitions, at the age of eight, he’d gotten a first-place trophy of the International Music Competitions in Piano, and afterwards, he’d won the accolades, and in fifth grade, he’d competed in the national viola competitions, and received the first place trophy for he professional musician’s………Su-Jing gloated on her son’s achievement. And once, “Lang Yu only got second place, and it was because he was looking around into the audience for me, and points were, deducted”, she’d retold.

like this???  Video from Youtube…

When Lang Yu was only three, his mother took him to visit me, as the adults were really having a grand time conversing, we’d not realized, when the young boy made his way to the “danger zones”, the kitchen, when he’d reappeared, there were, cookie crumbs all over his face, he’d pointed at the cookies I was throwing away because they’re past expiration, smiled foolishly. Su-Jing was shocked, started hitting his back, to make him get the food out, he refused, she was really worried, and couldn’t help but wondered, “This child never said a single world, could it be, that he was———“, she’d almost blurted out, “autistic”.

During kindergarten, Lang Yu had snuck out of class, walked three blocks, passed the intersections, to get home, it’d thrilled his parents, as well as his teacher too. In his last year of kindergarten, Su-Jing tried to take him to the Yamaha children’s piano class for the lessons, and, the teacher was shocked at how, sensitive he was to the sounds; and because he was always, way ahead of the rest of his class, the piano teacher suggested his parents to find him a private lesson instructor, and as he was being told that he had the talents by a professional, Su-Jing was, ecstatic, and, went around to seek out the famous instructors, and she didn’t care if the hourly charge was $2,000N.T.s. Later, Lang Yu entered into Hsiushan Elementary to study, and that started his formal music education, he’d learned a piece a week, and moved forward in his piano skills, and, Su-Jing had to buy the new music books, to “feed” to her baby who’d had enormous “appetite”.

Lang Yu enjoyed playing the music for the very first time, and, every time he’d received a new piece of music, he’d gone into his bedroom to read, from the first note on the first page, to the very last note to the very last page. Su-Jing said, “The way he’d read the new music, was like how we read our novels, page after page, page after page, until he was, finished with the whole thing.” He was only in the first grade, and already gotten to enjoy those beansprouts, as he’d entered into third grade, he’d, fallen in love with the viola, and told his parents that he wanted to learn to compose a few days ago, and, as Su-Jing heard, she’d, started, setting it up for him again.

Lang Yu surely did look handsome, in his white tuxedo, playing on the viola, he sat up straight in front of the piano, focused, and played the classics, even for me, who’s not the least bit familiar with music, I could feel his joy, of immersing himself into the music. He was, no longer that little boy who’d eaten the expired cookies that worried his mom so, at this young an age, he’d, found himself, a beautiful piece of sky.

The skies for Lang Yu, cloudless, and so bright too.

And so, this still just showed, that children are good at things, you parents just need to spend the time, to help the discover what it is that they loved to do, and what it is that they’re, good at, like this young man who’s autistic, he’d found something he enjoys doing, and is very good at it.
