Here’s, what the “experts” are saying on the matter, from the Newspapers, translated…

The homeroom instructor of a certain elementary school in the city of Taipei described a student’s high-risk home situation of abuse, the experts reminded, that the teachers needed to have the sensitivities to protect the privacies of young children, that it may hurt the children, if the teachers brought the bad things that’s happened in their lives for everybody in the class to know.

The manager of the Taipei’s Domestic Violence Prevention Center, Chen said, that the awareness of domestic violence or abuse would usually be told like stories, or told with anonymity, and, there are the various adjustments on the uses of words, phrases, and different materials to help the various grade levels understand, and if the teachers want to use the real-life examples, they must be sure to conceal the identities of the children who were involved.

And although the school told that the child didn’t show any signs of distress from what happened in her class, but the C.E.O. of the Jing-Juan Child Welfare Foundation, Lin pointed out, that children at this age can’t quite clearly tell the adults that they were hurt, and they’d needed to feel that sense of belonging in the class, and, if the domestic violence at home was revealed publicly, perhaps, they will feel diminished, and unable to fit in.

“The children who were abused at home can only turn to the school teachers for help”, Lin said, that the teachers should act as the most supportive network, and should show a ton of cares and concerns privately. If the child was suspected of being mistreated, or verbally bullied, the school, and the Department of Education should step in, and investigate the matter, sometimes, verbal bullying can damage the children even more than the physical punishments.

The parent filed a complaint to the 1999 hotlines, and, the Department of Education would reply within six days of the calls to the parent on how the process of investigations are going, and, six days later, they would meet, investigate, and, they’d needed to follow-up; if the person filing the complaints is dissatisfied with the results, then, the process of filing the complaints repeats all over again.

And from this, you CAN see, how FLAWED this system of reporting abuse is here, and yeah, maybe the teacher should’ve considered how the children will feel, after all, it is, her life that’s, being dissected openly by her teacher, and, even though the school told, that the children didn’t show any distress after the incident, that still doesn’t mean that they weren’t affected by it, and this also poses an important issue, after this incident, I’m sure, that those teachers who are originally very passionate about helping the children in their class, may not be as passionate, after all, this female instructor was misinterpreted by one of the student’s parents, and the parents received the information of what happened in class from the child, and, we all know, how sometimes, the words of mouth can be, quite, inaccurate…
