For the sake of making it easier for the children who needed to see a doctor, a program started by a local pediatrician, from the newspapers, translated…
Children’s Day is almost here, but there’s this nonstop news of children being abused, it’s, heart wrenching to see. The pediatrician from Bo-Ai Hospital in Yilan/Luodong, Dr. Shu-Juan Wu started the “Sharing the Love, Donating a Toy to the Children Who are Abused” program, in just one week, the hospital had, collected, thirty sets of toys, hoping to help soothe the angst of children as they get treated by the doctors.
The police department estimated, that in 2016, there were still 8,724 children and adolescents who were being abused. Wu said, that as the children and adolescent protections unit of the hospitals discussed the cases, they’d found, that hospital became a feared place for children, plus, the children were abused by mostly adults, and naturally, the children became unwilling to head to the hospitals to see the adult doctors; but, as the children who were abused were taken to the hospitals, they’d needed to get examined thoroughly, she’d hoped, that the toys collected can help soothe the children, to divert their attentions, so the medical staff can do their jobs.

Wu said, that on the frontlines of the medical realm, she’d discovered there were a lot of new and old injuries on children, not caused at the same time, but a lot of the younger children can’t verbalize what happened to them, they’d lacked abilities to protect themselves, “hope that everybody can be nosy, to show more care and concerns for children around them”; all it takes, is a call to 113 Protective Hotlines, then, you can manage, to save a young life.
The story mom volunteer, Yu said, that as she’d heard the reasons why Dr. Wu was collecting the toys for the children, she’d felt bad, if people can help, it’s not just the donating of the toys, it would certainly, help encourage the children who are abused to step out of the darkness too.
And so, this, is why there’s this call for toy donations, because there’s this need, because the children treated at the hospital may have been hurt by adults, which caused them to fear and distrust the adults, but, with the help from the donated toys, it might help them let down their guards, so the doctors and nurses can check them thoroughly, and it’s a very good program that this doctor had started.
