The illegal substances had, slowly, turned into the primary of secondary causes of child abuse now! Eight of twenty children under age three in foster care came from parents who abused drugs, the investigations also found, that there was a mom whom, three hours before she was due to give birth, was still abusing the substances, “the drug-addicted fetuses are being abused without knowing.”
There are currently eighty-one children in foster care in Pingdong, and, eight of the children under age three had to have a drug test when they were born, of the eight, five needed the treatment to de-tox; all of these infant were “addicted” when they were born.
The young girl, “Wen’s” mother was in prison for drug charges, her father, unknown, she’d been placed in foster care since birth, stayed in foster care for seven years, then, returned back to her family, but, the family of origin was dysfunctional, she got taken out of her home, and placed again.
There are also children who were born into a “family of drugs”, the grandparents, the parents are all addicted, the adults in the home took turns, serving time, the child was neglected long term, and became hard to take care of, the child started stealing money, and threatened his foster care family, he’d been switched in and out of FOUR total foster families. The foster mom laughed bitterly, everybody called this kid the “big whammy”, but she knew, that being “born into a family of addicts” was this child’s worst sort of fate.
The head of social worker of the Pingdong’s Fund for Children & Family Organization, Huang pointed out, that most believed, that child abuse is when the adults left the bruises on the children’s bodies, actually, the drug addicted babies had been abused since they were inside their mothers’ wombs, they’d needed to get through the detox, along with face with developmental problems after they were born, and, the parents’ being in jail at the start of their lives had, made their lives even more difficult than other children.

“Child abuse isn’t necessary physical or verbal”, the office manager of Pingdong County’s Social Service Department, Liu stated, that parents who are caught too deep into illegal substances, may not physically or verbally abuse their young, but, they’d neglected their children severely, which constitutes as an alternative kind of abuse.
“The problems with drug abuse, isn’t just medically, there are, bigger issues to consider”, the pediatrician from Pingdong Christian Hospital, Cho said, normally, the “addicted babies” are much lighter than normal children, they’d acted agitated easily, with a higher octave of cries, and, some had twitches, and all of these are signs of withdrawal.
And so, this, is what it looks, because the parents ARE addicted, their infant children are born, into a life of addiction, and that, is not a good start in life, but hey, do the parents who are, getting high care? Of course N-O-T, because if they hard, they’d, DE-TOX themselves, and get cleaned up, because you can’t raise up your young, while being addicted!
