You have to wonder, WHY are the juvenile being JAILED with the adults here, huh? Even IF they served in the same prisons, shouldn’t they be in different cells at least??? A problem in the department of corrections, I suppose, from the Front Page Sections, translated…
A man, Wang, when he was in juvenile detention last year, in three days, he’d had sex twice with the fourteen-year-old young man who’d just turned fourteen, but because they’d reached a settlement agreement, the Hsinbei District Court sentenced Wang to six months in jail, two years’ probation for obstructions of sexual freedoms.
As Wang had raped the adolescent, he’d just turned eighteen, afterwards, he was transferred to the Taoyuan Juvenile Hall; the Taipei Juvenile Detention said, that Wang took advantage of the time when the super intendent wasn’t paying attention, that they’d already, increased the security measures after the incident, and reinforced the rules, to NOT let similar things happen again.
The verdict pointed out, that Wang was taken into the Taipei Juvenile Detention Hall last year on a case, he’d just turned eighteen in October, he was sent into the isolation cells with a 14-year-old young man for breaking the rules; and, Wang took advantage of their time alone, had had sex with the young man twice in three days of being in the isolation cells together.
The victim cried to the manager of the unit, and that was when the juvenile detention hall realized what had happened, and called up the authorities, as well as the 14-year-old’s parents; because Wang is already eighteen, he was charged as an adult by the D.A.’s offices.
In the trial, Wang admitted to what he’d done, but claimed that he’d received consensus from the other teen; and, the officers who’d conducted the room checks, and the one who was watching the surveillance were neglectful, and given warnings.
Afterwards, Wang had apologized to the teen he’d raped as well as his parents, they’d reached a settlement agreement, the judge took into considerations that Wang was still very young, and had a good attitude after the incident, and reviewed the surveillance and found, that they were on the same bed together, looked like they were playing, that he’d not used violent measures to rape, and so, sentenced him based off of “having sex with minors under age 16 but over 14”.
And, this, is the NEGLECT of the jail systems, and yet, the adults responsible for keeping a watchful eye only got “written up”, and because they looked like they were horse playing, that there wasn’t ANY sign of violence, that, was why this potential FUTURE rapist got away, with nothing MORE than just a slap on the wrist, besides, he had, apologized to the parents and the victim, and they’d all agreed, that he should be, forgiven, so, the courts had, let it slide, how it THAT right? A teenage BOY is RAPED, and it didn’t matter, if it was consensual or not, rape is rape, is rape, is rape, especially when the victim was only FOURTEEN!!!
