The Companion Dogs Were in Kinmen for Charity Purposes, the Elders Fought to Pet Them

Nine retired narcotic and military service dogs were invited to the Datong Nursing Home in Kinmen to visit, the furry pets’ appeals were huge, the elderly had, fought to pet them, to play games with them, and, they’d all shared a wonderful afternoon.

“There’s Love in the World, and No Barriers to Companionship” the enforcement activities hosted its events at Kinmen’s Datong Nursing Home, the nine companion dogs arrived in the home to interact with the elderly, and the atmosphere was, heartwarming.

The chairperson of Taipei Companionship Dogs Association stated that all the companion dogs are all very stabilized, and fitted to stay with the elders, that the association had plans, to help train more dogs in Kinmen to accompany the elders in the local nursing homes.

Tsai said, this time, there’s, “Sweet Cakes” and “Rice Balls”, two German Shepherds, Border Collies, Turbo and Meh-Meh, the Shiba Inus, “Parfait”, “Muni”, the local breed, “Goody”, and “Jubi”, a Bernese Mountain Dog. Through petting, licking, hugging, along with an assortment of companionship, to heal the human heart. Of all the companion dogs, the German Shepherd was over fifty kilograms, and everybody still interacted with it well, playing games.

Yang said, that dogs are not just man’s best friend, they can also become good helpers, and great companions, they hoped, that through interacting with dogs, it can help those who are decapacitated to feel relieved and happy.

And so, this, is a good program, training these retired service dogs, to become companions for the elderly, that way, the dogs are still working, and, they are able to, bring smile and laughter into the lives of the elderly as well.
