The Rotary Club’s Helping to Improve the Abilities of Children from Lesser Backgrounds, the One on One Lessons “Helped Improved the Skills in All Areas, Inspiring Children Who Were Helped to Become the Accompanying Students When They’re Older Too”
The Nangang High School’s substitute teacher was involved in the International Rotary Club sponsored English education plan in the distant-regions, she’d thought, that the young children disliked her lessons, and had, wanted to drop out of the program, until she’d asked the children, “Do you want me to come back again?”, and the children told her, “we love your class, please, do come back”, that was when she realized, that her sacrificing her afternoon lunch break was more than worth it.
This is the second year that the International Rotary Club’s District 3481 and 3482’s hosting the English education in the distant regions program, focusing on the one-on-one courses, as the students who acted as the “study buddies” to help third through sixth graders learn, yesterday, the summit discussed the related topics.

The director of District 3482 of the Rotary Club, Liu stated, that the first year as the plans were set up, they were all, testing the waters, and, the internet disconnected midway through the lessons, there wasn’t a set curricula, the student teachers planned the lessons themselves, and now, they’d, had a set of specific materials to each from, to increase the interests of the younger students.
“What’s fermented, wasn’t just the company in the process of teaching, the younger students had, improved in all areas,” the assistant chairperson, Shen said, that the elementary school children’s goals changed, and there was a young boy who’d stated proudly, that he’d wanted to study in Younchun High School too, “The older study buddy was simply, too excellent, I want to be JUST like him!”
Shen told of an example, of how a male student from Banciao High School, in order to get the hours of volunteer services requirements met, for the first three weeks, he’d just, played the cartoons in English to the third grade child, until the young boy told him, “Hey, can you tell me how this grammar is used?”, that was when he’d found, “They were really there, to learn.”
And, there was an elementary school principal who’d stated, that there was a child who’d had on his earphone, pretended that he was really into the lessons, but, he was actually, watching videos on Youtube and lied that the college level study companion wasn’t available, but this year, before the time for the lessons, the children are sat down in their seats, hollering, “Why are the college students not on yet?”, because of this program, the kids clearly, improved on their English skills, and, they’d altered their attitude toward learning along the way too.
And so, this, is how the older students had, rubbed off on the younger children, because the student teachers are focusing more, putting in more energy, to do the lessons for these younger children, that is why the attitude the younger children took to learning also changed, and this, is an excellent program, to help the children who can’t get enough resources, to have a better chance at life later on.
