Sentenced to Twenty-Four Years, and Came Clean about the Serious Felony He’d Committed Fourteen Years Ago

His guilty conscience, finally caught up with him, I suppose…confessions to an almost cold case that he was involved in, nearly fifteen years ago, from the Front Page Sections, translated…

A man, Cho fourteen years ago, was suspected of robbing a motel, with another man, Lin and injuring a worker there, the case hadn’t been solved yet; last year, he was sentenced to prison time, and, suddenly, he’d, “come to his senses”, and, admitted to what he’d done fourteen years ago to the D.A., turned in his accomplice, Lin, reason being he’d wanted to “say goodbye to his past self”, to begin anew again. The Taichung D.A.’s office charged both men on robbery, and advise the judge to add the punishments to Cho for him being a repeated criminal, and reduce his sentences because he’d “turned himself in”.

The D.A. pointed out, that the 35-year-old Cho had committed multiple theft and robbery in Taichung and Hsinchu, last July he was sentenced to serve twenty-four years confirmed, and was taken to prison.

Last October, in prison, Cho admitted to the D.A., that in the early morning hours of March 17, 2004, he rode his motorcycle carrying the 36-year-old man, Lin to a motel in Dali, Taichung, and they took their watermelon knives to rob the place, as he’d barged into the office, he’d, hacked at and injured the employee, Chen on the arms and knees, they’d robbed over $5,000N.T. from the motel, and split it up.

The D.A. immediately looked into the matter, and found, that the police were, looking into this robbery, but without the surveillance and enough evidence, their investigation deadlocked, and it’d almost, become, a cold case; after Cho gave his confessions, the case of the robbery reopened, and the testimonies of Cho and the victims lined up with each other’s, and, Lin who was serving time for something else in prison, had admitted to his involvement in the robbery.

The D.A. stated, that there are, rarely any cases of confessing to past crimes being charged as a major criminal already, and Cho claimed that he’d wanted to, sever off his past, to start anew again; but because Cho was a repeated offender, the D.A. based off of the rules, asked the courts to give him a harsher sentence, but he’d, qualified for turning himself in, and, had the courts, reduced some time he is going to serve.

And so, either that this man finally, decided, to start over a new leaf in life, or that his guilty conscience finally, got the best of him, either way, he’d been caught, along with his partner of the robbery fourteen years ago, and hopefully, after he’d served his time in prison, he does get to, begin anew again…
